Has anyone ever put a hole in their floor on the left side of the driver's seat and put their e-brake handle there? Reason is my transfer case is now occupying the space that the e-brake mount used to. Thinking along these lines:

Conversely, has anyone ever installed a mini-truck, pull-style handle?

The guy from India did that to his RHD, moved it over to the door side on the RH side. I've contemplated it
so a serious full size console could be installed. But it's on the list of 'nice' to do, not 'need' to do.
I've also realized that it could be moved forward somewhat, and use a 80 series cable possibly. Again for
the same purpose. check post #172 below

New to IH8MUD and New to FJ60

Have you considered a line lock system? It's not really an e-brake, but could be I guess. They work great as a parking brake though.

Yes, and I plan on installing one. Would still prefer to keep the original handbrake for "legal" and "safety" purposes. Already have 80 series rear brakes and cable so I can out the handle wherever. Going to to the left side of the seat I think.

I like the idea Matt, looks good to me. I plan on running a line lock since I went to disc brakes in the back.

How much longer is the 80 cable over the 60 cable?

The main reason I have it is because the 80 axle is 2" wider on each side then the 60 axle, but the axle-to-lever section is probably about 12-16" longer then the 60 (the 80 has a longer wheelbase). My cable made an "S" shape under the body.

Cruisermatt,

I put a 60 e-brake on the side of my 55. I know different animal, but problem with mine is I have to open the door to apply or release the brake. With the door closed, there's not enough room for my arm between the seat and door. When I go to a FF axle with discs, I'm going to a dual line lock. Something to think about before cutting.

Good point, but have you seen Matt? He is about the size of your left arm Ron.:lol::lol:

Just kidding Matt, I like the idea!

Yeah I'm 5'7. Lol.

For anyone wondering, this is why I'm doing this. The e-brake's stock location is now taken up by a 203.

Well, not going to work because there's not enough room with the door closed to pull the handle. However, there's a trick up my sleeve...

Gonna cut a hole in the door?

What about the 40/minitruck style e-brake handle...up by the dash?

I don't think there's enough leverage for that? Anyone smarter then I willing to chime in?

And if you can figure out a way to extend the cable.

That's what it looks like I'm going to do, kind of where it is factory just higher up. The floor section I built looks like it is going to to lend itself very well to this, and the mounting of a Tuffy console.

Now there's a perfect spot for an 8" Tuffy.
