I don't think that Platinum was rude at all. For a corporate letter, it is downright personable.
They probably have to write some patent jargon as a matter of legal course.

If they have a worldwide patent, and substantial investment in development and manufacturing; then I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm sure some plant in China already has 12 yr old girls hard at work pounding out copies anyway.

I think the OP made a cool reproduction. He is using it himself, no one can sue him for that. Who, in their right mind will pay $400 in shipping?!
Impressive DIY, I say!

But I also think one should respect a company with a patented idea, trying to make a go of it. Hopefully Slee starts selling them here.

For a corporate letter, it is fine. For a public post to a enthusiast forum... dumb move, IMHO. Sounds like it is already made in China.;)

Jerry,
You made an awesome dropslide. I can't figure that out even by looking at your pics!
It's cool you are giving out details to people too.

They can't do anything to you. I think they probably, in truth, are flattered and just can't say anything because of how legal stuff goes. A lot of companies are the same way, they get sued all the time.

So is it finnished yet.

How about some updatepics and did you get any greif from the Manufacturers

I've gotten zero issues from the other company. There is not a lot they can do about a home made slide.

I currently have a very rough proof of concept proto type built. And it works!! It is a completely different drop-down design from the Aussie product. I'm not ready to post pictures yet. I want to refine it a bit more first.

Sorry about the tease, but I need to have my ducks in a row before I unveil the new slide, It was a lot of work and time developing a different design that worked as well as the original.

I'm on pins and needles.....

I'm in for purchasing one of you non-patent infringing slides! Or you could just donate one of your originals, and we can bypass the patent infringment problems! :)

I'm serious! I'm a buyer the moment you have a product!!!

I'm ready to buy once you have them ready:cheers:

Thanks guys! I still have a ways to go before the slide is ready for production. But, I’m in the home stretch.

I've been lurking on this thread (Did I say that right?) with great interest!

Let me know if you need a  or something before you reach the finish line! :hillbilly:

I pulled the trigger and bought an ARB fridge. I'm even more interested in your "prototype" model. You're just a few hours away so I can "test" your first prototype... :D

Buying a fridge was one of my better "camping" upgrades!! I love mine.

I'll keep your "test" idea in mind! What size fridge did you buy?

The big one. I forget the volume off the top of my head.

I wanted that aussie one too, but seeing that post....I'm in on one of yours once it's ready. Keep this updated!

I had considered one of these slides for my latest project and was very pleased when I found a UK supplier which unfortunately at the time was out of stock! It seems there is an element of irony here, I for one will not be purchasing from a company 'showing it's teeth' on a public forum, I would be very concerned with warranty issues if they arose, this kind of attitude makes me wonder how the conversation would go. NOT FOR ME!!

Keep me in the loop for one, if the shipping cost is silly (Spain at mo or perhaps UK later this year)perhaps a set of plans (copyrighted by all means) with a letter allowing me to make a 'one off' would be worth a sensible contribution to the beer fund!

Good luck!!

regards

Dave

Dave,

I tried to contact the UK supplier a number of times in the past year, but could not get a response.

The proto type is nearly complete, but the end of year rush has slowed my progress. Shipping to Spain could be expensive, but I have not yet checked into all the details. The shipping weight should be about 35kgs or 75 pounds. I’m trying to find ways of shedding weight without compromising on strength. A moving fridge can be pretty heavy!

I will keep you updated.

Thanks!
