Jerry, im so glad to see this taking off so well for you. You are just like us.. starting something that folks have thought of but never really took all the way. It's great.

I never had a chance to stop by your booth at the Expo because well im sure you know we were all so busy. Heck i never had a chance to see the show hardly!

Anyways, i was wondering what you guys have done with the cord routing in the back of the slide? We have a African Outback slide in our 80 series drawer system and i sometime shave to hold the cable from getting caught in the slide. Any details on this?

Hey Dave,
Expo was a kick and you’re right, I was so busy it was hard to get away and check everything out. I’ll send you a pm; we are so close, we should get together.

As for the fridge cord, I run the cord from the connection at the fridge up to the handle and wrap the cord around the handle a couple of times. This brings the cord up high which allows the cord a bit more movement. I also use small Velcro ties to keep the cord in place. Because the LoadSpotter drops the fridge down, I always have a bit more slack in the line to make up for the extra movement.

Wow.

That is pretty damn slick. I loved the video. Great job on making something that works for getting stuff out of our fridge in a taller truck. Soon as I can get some drawers, I will be getting one of these to go along with it.

Jon

Thanks for the comments on the video. I just put up that video a couple of days ago. The old one was pretty bad! Let me know when you are ready and I’ll get LoadSpotter to you!

Right on Jerry, i'd totally like to hook up and meet you. I'll fire you a PM sometime. Watched the video also, looks good. Let me know if you want to promote it with DVD hand outs, thats our primary business.

I'm diggin the music in the vid. I now know where my expendable cash is going. My next mod to get the fridge off the drawer system. Nice job on the fabbin'!

Ooooo...shiny!

Any issues with shipping above the 49th parallel?

I've checked with both UPS and FedEx and found other then the usual paperwork to deal with customs, there should be no problems shipping the LoadSpotter ground to Canada. Although, I will be double checking ground availability on a case by case basis with each order.

Enigma, you need to get it shipped either to Blaine or Pt. Roberts. UPS will bend you over at the border, you clear it yourself and it's duty free (NAFTA) this is a product that is 100% US made. I've had stuff shipped to Pt. Roberts, like a cast bell housing (heavy) for 40.00. UPS had it delivered the next day. It would have cost me over double that to have it shipped directly to my office in Vancouver + duty. When I try to explain it should be duty free, they tell me to apply to the Government to get my money back... ya right!

A really nice piece of engineering, just when you think pretty much everything has been invented for the 4X4someone comes along and invents something better.....nice one. It will be awhile before I can afford one plus the shipping to Spain but I am certain it will happen

Well done!!

regards

Dave

Hey Granite,
Thanks for a bit of insight on getting product over the border. More research is in order.

Dave,
Thanks for the kind words and you are right, overseas shipping is a killer. It almost doubles the cost of the slide. Again a bit more research is in order!

Will this set up work with the ARB 50QT fridge/freezer? If not do you plan on making a model that will? Very interested in this for my rig, currently my ARB fridge slide is on back order.
Just curious.

Yes, the LoadSpotter will work with the ARB 50ltr.

I currently have a few slides in stock. PM me and I'll give you more details when you are ready. My website has a list of fridges that will fit.

Rubiconcruiser,

Thanks for the compliment! The Aussies don't have a world patent.

I thought I might update this thread a bit and show what is new. Hard to believe it started back in 2009!

The original purpose of the thread was to show off something I was building for myself and over time it turned into a small business thanks to MUD!

After three long and expensive years I now have an official US Patent for my efforts!

Thanks for the support!

Jerry

Thanks Mike,

As our very first customer, you did more than a small part. It is gutsy to buy the very first model and product a company sells. You got the ball rolling!

Look forward to camping with you again! Stay safe in Afghanistan.

Congrats!

How cool! I remember following this thread when it started.

This is at the top of my list for 2013!

Phew, that is an increase in cost from the $550 in 2010! Nice looking kit though.

Just wondering, do you still offer the $550 version? Looks like Slee now carries the MSA 4x4 version now.

duggy,

I wish I could sell them for the $550. At the time of that quote, I had no idea of what was involved in the cost of manufacturing. Like most people, I did not consider the cost of material, parts, tooling, insurance, labor, storage, product boxing, lawyers and the list goes on and on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, all those items are my problem as they are for anybody who manufactures and sells to the public. I just did not know it at the beginning!

I like that my original LoadSpotter slide has expanded to include a full series of flat slides, tie down straps, camp tables and now lantern hangers; all overbuilt! It has been a lot of fun and I can't wait to see what the future holds. A lot of MUD members have been there to help me along and I'm grateful.

I looked on Sleeoffroad.com and did not see the MSA 4x4 version. He might not be selling it any more.
