How much slip travel does an 80 driveshaft have? From full compression to about an inch of spline engagement (the least I'm comfortable with)? I've heard rumors that they have more travel then 60 driveshafts but have not been able to find any numerical evidence of this. Thanks.

Don't the 62 fronts have more travel than the rear?

I have a 80 rear shaft at home and can measure it, but don't recall it having any more than a 62 rear. At least by any noticable amount..

Please do.
All 60 slip joints should be the same. I've had every version of a 60 driveshaft Toyota made in a pile at one time before and don't recall any being different. I've been wrong before though.

I need a 5-6" travel slip yoke for my front driveshaft (I have a lot of travel with my new front suspension) And trying to avoid shelling out for one of the super long travel driveshaft kits from Marlin or Trail Gear

Looks like the 80 is the exact same as my extra 62 rear. Approximately 4-1/4" from bottomed to disengaged. Sounds like its time for a long travel Marlin slip joint...

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it. And just when you thought every piece of info was on Mud... hopefully this helps someone in the future too.

How much further back do your control arms mount on the frame? Seems like you'd have a hard time drooping far enough to pull out the slip and still be able to turn the u-joints.

This is for my FJ62 (leaf springs). Set up for way more travel then 80 series radius arms, and up and down, not in an arc.

I am pretty sure 96 and up 4runners, tacomas, and gx's have 6" of slip yoke and many have 45 degree u joints. U may need to drill your flanges-not hard.

I’ll look into that. Thanks for the tip.
