Hey guys, what are your dream 80 series axle builds, locked front and rear on a 96.

Are they much different from the OEM Toyota version? I guess I assumed an e-locker was an e-locker.

I don't know about "dream axles", but I'd like to put RCV shafts into my OEM locked axles at some point. I’m Gaye’s sing not
They work the same but less modification to install it seems. Better axle /prop shafts and the cv would be a bonus for sure. Now we are talking 6500 or more if done at home..

Eaton’s disengage momentarily when going from forward to reverse or vice versa
OEM lockers are the only lockers that I know of that can be manually engaged and disengaged.

If you’re locked already.
Lower gears
RCV 300m 30 spline axles
ARP hardware
Truss the front housing and add knuckle braces.

If you need more then that then it’s time for a Buggy.

Exactly this. I have all of these and catch myself imagining it's going to be time for a RuffStuff front 9.5 housing with 80 balls to swap in, but really at that point, the 80 is no longer the chassis and I'd be better off building a stretched FJ40 or something else dedicated for crawling

9.5 high pinions, trussed

9.5 are more of a center pinion.

And run in the front are debatable how much stronger they are over an 8 inch

That’s a lot of work for 30 spline shafts. Why not do a 609 at that point?

The only advantage is the number of parts that I have sitting in my garage already lol. All I'd need is the housing, studs for the diff and new 80 balls. But again, I think at that point, it'll go in another build. Unless I can convince my wife she wants an 8" high pinion with my old Longfields in her build

What's not to already love, high pinion, kingpin, 8", birfields, removable 3rds, diff drain plug, 9.5" rear full float. Add some RCVs and 300M and you have some of the best axles out there, ARBs are always good.

If you want to go crazy 05+ Dana 60 with 1550 shafts and a rear 14bt with 40 splines ( I run that on my Jeep)

Build a hybrid rear 80 100 axle and you could do 32 spline shafts. But would not be able to run 5.29s

Please clarify
Are saying the 100 9.5 will fit a 80 housings and is 32 spline ?
But there no 5.29 option for the ring & pinon ?
Thanks honest question.

If I’m remembering right, you can shove 32 spline spider gears from a 100 series arb into an 80 arb and run 32 spline shafts or something of the sort. Nitro kinda makes a kit but is missing the spider gears

😂🤣🤮No way anything Nitro is going on my Rig.
I already have a twisted set of Nitro axles that they wouldn’t stand behind.
Nitro SUCKS

So are we just making s*** up now for the fun of it because I dont see how some hybrid 32 spline from a 100 is anyones "Dream Axle"

No one is making anything up, it's been done multiple times as retrofit and Toyota literally built it that way on all 105's.
Now whether it is a actual worthwhile upgrade or not is a different discussion
