For those of you who are running Doug Thorley Headers... did any of you use the thick gaskets that came with the headers? or did everyone use Toyota OE header gaskets?
Reason I ask is the DT header flange is not dead flat... slightly bowed at the center, on both headers. But if I start tightening them to the head from middle outward, it looks like it could be fine ...but this does lead me to wonder if I should use the thick DT gasket because of this.... or if OE Toyota gaskets were fine... (I prefer to use Toyota gasket)

*** pic for attention, dumb stuff I do late at night... old habits die hard I guess.. but I've decided to take the wrap off. Lower underhood temps would be nice, but i think I should try to keep the lifetime warranty on these... plus thinking of water crossings, dirt and mud getting caked on the wraps doesnt feel right.

they look nice, i would leave the wrap on. If it were me , I'd probably use the OEM gaskets , which are an MLS gasket ( multi-layered steel). which is the best type of gasket for this application

Wondering about this same thing. I've got the tick coming back pretty bad again. I'm in a financial position where can do the headers this time. May have a local shop do the job but he wants me to get the parts. So wondering if I should get oem Gaskets or not.

I’ve got 110k+ miles on mine with OEM gaskets but from other reviews above sounds like you can’t go wrong either way

Good luck

DT gaskets worked for me. Header wrap isn't a bad idea as the LH side header got a little too close to my AC line this summer so the new line got wrapped and secured away from it.

The wraps do look nice and I would like to lower temps in those areas. I do a lot of water / mud crossings and will have caked on mud. I share your concern. Would wrapping the AC lines with a heat shielding material that can repel water be an alternative?

If it were me, i would only use Remflex gaskets, OEM or the DT gaskets will work but Remflex is the best...

Where does one get the Remflex gaskets? Seems like Summit Racing is the place to buy the headers. Unless someone knows of a mud vendor that sells them?
