Hello- 2000 Land Cruiser right rear middle door hinge has torn off on the door . The door opens and closes but the middle hinge / support bracket is what provides resistance and keeps it open etc. Somehow it has torn out... See photo. Is this issue " common " with the 100 series? The biggest question is what to do ?

This is a known problem on certainly earlier model years. @cruiserpatch recently released some repair/reinforcement panels that, if I understand correctly, can be used to cover damage like this or to prevent it from occurring.

Thank you for the tag.

This happened on my 99 LX about a month after I bought it in 2020. It took me a while to perfect this solution but I now sell a repair kit as well as 'prevention plates' which reinforce the sheet metal, sandwiching it between the plate and the limiter.

The 'bare metal' version can be welded to the door but will require some light body work as these do not all break uniformly.

See product here: 100 Series Land Cruiser Door Limiter Reinforcement Plates - https://www.cruiserpatch.com/products/100-series-door-limiter-reinforcement-plates-door-carnage-prevention

*Edit: it's a good idea for every 100 owner to check their rear doors for damage and if possible, prevent it from getting worse by purchasing a set of reinforcement plates.

Thanks ! Do you have dimensions of the patch ? It looks like it may be a bit smaller than what I need but would like to measure.

I must’ve forgotten to add the dimensions to the website (oops- now updated).

Both plates measure 1-3/8” across by 3-1/8” tall (allow for slight variation with powder coat)

I had the exact failure on my 2000 right rear door. I figure the stop iced up. I cut a section from an old Highlander door and welded it in. Be VERY careful when rolling down the rear window until you get it sorted. My window shattered after the repair so I replaced the factory stop with a custom sewn nylon strap.
