Left my dome light burning for 8hrs and it burned a hole in the plastic light cover.

I went to the local toyota dealer (West Ashley Toyota) and I told him I have a 84 LC Fj60. He looked up the part number for the dome light and he told me that the plastic dome light cover had been discontinued. I asked him to run a cross reference on the part number and he told me that he could not ( I think b/s). He told me that I had to buy the complete light assemble at a cost of $62. I have a 88 FJ62 and remembered the dome light looks similar. He looked up the part number for that dome light and found it was still offered for $13.

So the moral of the story is to dont take the dealer at their word.

Part number for just the dome light cover is 81241-20060 and it is the same in a Fj62 and Fj60

Awesome info. Been looking for just the dome light cover w/o the burn spot for a while now.
Thanks

good info and all the more reason to replace that bulb with an LED- my bulb went out and the first thing I did was to tap the center of the cover and of course the center broke out.

-found the cover at the dealership and a LED panel at automoan.. now i don't have to worry about that or a dead battery waiting on me.

I need to come up with a better solution for inerior lights.....LEDs or soemthign brighter...espically for front seat area... Something bright and something that puts light where needed. Maybe even some type of battery operated thing, or a nice bright map light.

There are LED options for both interior lights, just look up fullylitLED, he's one seller that has been puting a kit together for the domes and markers/reverse lights. The "best mods under $50" in the FAQ has map light options. I think lots of guys go with the Hella mounted by the glove box. Check that thread and there are pics and sugestions.

there is another thread somewhere, but several imports share this same domelight, my honda civic has the exact dome light as my 60 does....

Every Celica and Corolla in the junkyard has the same dome light too.

Good to know and thanks for the part #. Mine was brittle and when I touched the burned dark spot on it, it crumbled. I just ordered a new one.

Now to order some LEDs!
