Quick question...does a 3FE FJ80 (1991) have a timing belt or chain? (yeah I should know this) I searched back 500 days but discussion was limited to fzj & 100 series, nothing specific to a 3FE motor. I have someone coming to look at my 91 tonight and wanted to make sure I informed them correctly. Belt or chain, is there a recommended maintenance interval?
thanks guys,
Jason

It has neither.

The camshaft is gear driven.

What are the advantages/DISadvantages of this setup?

Pros (my read)

Long life
Consistant timing
Durable

Cons (again, my read)

Noisy (in some cases)
It's not an over-head cam.

Is definitely a work horse for the long haul as long as it stays lubed. I never had any problems with mine in my 60 and 62.....never was an issue at all.
