Okay so looking at the frame extension brackets #6 RH and #7 LH, Does this attach to the frame with bolts or Rivets? If bolts what size and strength should I use?

Thanks ahead of time,

John

Bolts. 10 or 12 mm I think.

The bracket is riveted to the frame. The bumper and top plate are bolted to the bracket.

Originally riveted.

Pick up some grade 8 bolts that fit in the holes and call it good.

I stand corrected. I must have a PO modified version. Captive nuts and all.

[strike]Must be bolted on in later years. Both mine are bolted, '76 and '78. My '78 came from the original owner and is very original with 99% original bolts.[/strike]

Edit: On my '78 one side is, indeed, riveted. I have to change my guess to both sides riveted and mine had one side changed for some reason.

Sounds likely then. My example is a 77.

Huh. I don't have any great pictures of that area, but these two pictures of my '77 look to me like rivets. I'm almost positive they are:

Now you made me curious.

Mine is like Subzali's. The "7-LH" piece is riveted to the frame with horizontal rivets, and all along the top of the "5" biece are bolts.

They need to be bolts (at least in back) because that's where you bolt on the tow hooks....

Yep, just verified on mine. 5 needs to be bolted.
