I'm surprised the Toyota lawyers are okay with this. I mean, I get that the suitcase that's stuffed behind the rearview mirror leaves no room for the dashcam. But this is just crazy...

I took this pic yesterday on the test-drive.

... and saw this posted on a FB group. So, it seems to be where the dealers or port (?) are hanging them.

But on a positive note, I really liked the truck - more than I thought I would. That little 2.4 feels better than the 4.7 or 5.7. That was a surprise.
Yikes. That placement is dogsh*t and clearly shows they didn't think any of it through from an owner/driver perspective. As much as I disdain my Bl@ckview cameras, I at least put them where I can't even see them when I'm in a normal driving position. Clearly the port guys DGAF when it comes to installing these abominations.

Does anyone know if the dashcam can be easily removed?
At the dealer today and I asked the same question. They said a tech would need to handle it. Not sure that's the case, but that's what they said.

Before I ended up removing it myself, the dealership quoted me $185 for the service department to remove it. Yep, $185 to remove something Toyota had previously installed that's right at eye-level and a total safety hazard!!

This thread had me second guessing the dash cam when I was waiting for my LC to arrive. Thought about asking the dealer to remove it but decided on just giving it a chance. I’ve had it for a couple weeks now and don’t even notice the camera anymore. So far it hasn’t obstructed my view enough to consider moving it. Honestly I like having it where it is in case I need to press the event record button quickly.

Ditch the Toyota dashcam. I don’t have first hand experience with it but it seems horrible based on what I’ve seen and heard. I’ve owned multiple dashcams over the years but this one by far is the best. Integrates perfectly and the quality is good. You’ll thank me later.

Have they updated the quality on the camera to read license plates clearly at low light, as the last oem from the toyota/lexus aftermarket programs were subpar for the price?

The aftermarket leaders are usually all about using starvis 2k sensor that can capture at 1440p at 60fps (half with hdr) with really good low light performance.

Any possible to uninstall it or at least cutting the wires to remove it out? I'm asking, just in case if i get the 2025 truck? It looks so weird and bother drivers.
