js93,

We are interested in what you end up with. Someone should do some before and after dyno runs with this set-up....hint. Take pics please.

Cheers, J

I'm having them install the kit, my truck is way to big to fit on a dyno otherwise I would

OK, how about at least some before and after 0-60 videos on the same course?

X2 but I just can't pull the trigger without some real numbers from a dyno.

I had fzjconvert stop by today to talk about plans for doing the Turbo Setup. Just want to say thanks for stopping by and getting your feedback on the truck.

Is there any update on the DIY kit pricing?

Has anyone gotten theirs installed yet and ready to post feedback?

Here is my Intake setup. It was made from Fiberglass, then seam sealed to the body and then Rhyno lined. I will try to dig up the old pictures sometime. I have an old thread on here from about 5 years back. I thought it would be good to report that my rear mount turbo has been very reliable and I have only done regular maintainence and a couple tune ups. I have been able to tow very well and drivability is much better than stock. I can't imagine a N/A 80... My truck was rebuilt with stock parts just before the build. I did use the updated Toyota HG and Supra Head Studs. :)

Nice! It appears you came up through the floor on the inside? Any pics of that part? And how did you seal the floor?

That's what I'm talking bout! Great work! I would love to see the complete setup you have. Glad to see another rear mount with some reliable mileage on it.

I used a Plumbing Coupler similar to this. My Turbo has a 4" inlet. The inside, sadly isn't pretty at all. There is a large K&N Filter in an inclosure & there is no chance that I will post a pic. It's Ghetto Fab. I plan to rebuild the inside this year sometime.

2KC: How many miles on yours now?

Where is the thread you were talking about. Love to read up on it.

2KC: How many miles on yours now?

I only have less than 2000 miles on mine so far. However I will be putting on another 600 or so this weekend. Going camping and gonna see what this puppy can do.

^^^^ I think that is it. Read through it quickly. He wrote that he did do a lot of wheeling and submerged the turbo as well. Good to hear no issues since 2007. I guess I'm not alone. Any chance you ever did a dyno on it or 0-60 times. Thanks again fj80psi for the info.

Is there any similar project for the 1HZ engine?

Nope, not on a 1HZ. However I would like to try on a 3FE.

I have the DIY kits starting at $1500. Kit includes Turbo, Wastegate,Intercooler, Flanges, Brackets, Hoses, Connectors, Clamps, Filter, Pump, etc. Basically it includes everything you need to get it boosting except for piping. You need someone with a welder and a bender and that's it. You can call me for more info at 818-344-4410.
