DIY Smartphone Scan Gauge - OBD Fusion (6 Viewers)

My Veepeak BLE Plus came in this afternoon. It works exactly as well as the Carista dongle. I’m going to time the VX Diag Nano and see how long it takes between updates when connected to AHC ECU through Techstream. If it’s slow there as well, I’m not sure if it’s worth trying to chase down a faster dongle. Either way, I’ll probably be sending back my Veepeak. It is nice, connected fine and comes in a decent plastic and foam lined case for storage. Just doesn’t do anything more than the adapter I already have.
I downloaded a different app, Car Scanner ELM OBD2. It is similar to Fusion, but not as refined. On the plus side it has some features and some protocols exposed that Fusion doesn’t make exactly obvious. I don’t think it has any of the “Network E” stuff.
It shows the Lexus uses the ISO 15765-4 (11Bit ID / 500kbaud) protocol. This is the fastest of the protocols listed in the communication menu. OBD Fusion does show this if you look very closely while it’s connecting to the vehicle, it shows it for about .5 seconds.
Also, my previous theory of not scanning all the PIDs doesn’t make a difference. I deleted my vehicle and re added it, the dashboard worked without scanning any PIDs, and it still scanned every ECU in network E before connecting. I’m sure it hasn’t done a PID scan yet, because it still wants me to scan the ECU even though everything works.

So form my research, this is my understanding.
Wifi: don't bother unless you want to incapacitate your phone while driving
Bluetooth <4.0 : Works with Android, but not iOS.
Bluetooth =>4.0: Works with IOS and Android.
I can say that for me, the Veepeak BLE Plus and the Carista (bought circa March '21) both work on my IOS device.
Apparently most of the devices on the market are fake...or at least most of the ones on eBay/AliExpress.
Notes from the guy who made the app i referred to earlier:
Recommended adapters brands: OBDLink, Kiwi 3, V-Gate, Carista, LELink, Veepeak.
If you buy one of the cheap china OBD2 ELM327 adapters from ebay / amazon, then make sure it’s not marked as v.2.1. This adapters are supported, but they have lot’s of bugs.

Sweet! This got me going in the right direction.
In browsing the options on Amazon, I noticed my OBDLink LX showed lifetime firmware updates. Took a chance on my vintage 2015 OBDLink, flashed the firmware, and I'm reading the AHC PIDs!
Now just need to drive the LX some later this week.

You can use WiFi adapters without compromising the internet, I do it with mine. You have to clear the router/gateway address and it will work. Basically just keep the IP and mask.

Do you guys just leave them plugged in all the time or just when you need it? Any harm in just having it plugged in?
I leave mine plugged in (Carista) and have had no issue. It definitely stays powered, but I think “the better” ones have some sort of low power sleep mode.
I also leave it plugged in and fire up OBD Fusion when I need the dashboards, everything ready to go.

I only take mine if I have to take the LC200 to the dealership. I don't want them to think I am altering the settings.
Newbie poster here. Just picked up a 2006 LC with AHC. 175k on the clock. Been pouring over the forums over the last few days. Amazing resource. Very slick that you can monitoring all this data on an iPhone and AHC to boot! Any reason that this would not work on 2006 LC? 100 and 200 series are both OBD2 right? Thanks!
I have my Grom Vline2 installed now. Added OBD Fusion to it. My dashboard for IPhone has same issue as originally reported with Android device, so seems to be universal Teckis dashboard does work, albeit not well per resolution and landscape mode of Grom. So, work to do I guess in getting something that fits the Vline2 screen.
I was wondering how it would work thru one of the android solutions. Thanks for posting up.
The biggest issue I see right now is I can’t figure out how to make a widget transparent like it is on the iPhone. I went in and 0’d out many of the fields which showed as transparent in the test box, but once loaded in dashboard, it wasn’t transparent, making stacking widgets difficult.
Looking for some help getting AHC readouts up and running. I'm using a KIWI3 OBD2 dongle.
The Kiwi is connecting to the vehicle. I purcahsed the Toyota pack and all the standard dashboards are working correctly. I've imported AHC and TRIP dashboards and they come are imported then into OBD Fusion and I see both screens. But oddly when I'm driving all the values in the AHC screen are blank when parked and once I start driving all gauges on that screen show a readout of the vehicles current speed, instead of AHC pressures. Not sure what's I'm doing wrong.
I've tried to follow these instructions: “settings->Vehicle Editor->Advanced Network” you must select “Network E”. You can also set this value to “prompt” at connection if you think you will use it a lot, then when you connect to vehicle, it will ask if you want Generic OBD or Network E.
I do not see any option for "Network E", only "Generic OBD2" and below that "Network A". Also I notice when I click "Settings/Vehicle Editor/View Networks/, under Automatic Height control Suspension field it reads: "0 supported parameter"
Any tips or advice much appreciated.

So the OBD dongle can only connect to one set of ECUs at a time. So if the TRIP dashboard is working, I mean fully working since some of those values are coming directly from phone, then AHC dashboard can’t be working.
is your software fully up to date, and your sure you added the Toyota pack for your specific vehicle?
Hey thanks for the reply. Not sure I understand how to activate AHC dashboard instead of TRIP dashboard? I just imported both dashboards and now I see both of these in addition to the other preloaded dashboards when I swipe from then the dashboard screens in the OBD fusion interface.
Yes I’m running the latest version of OBD fusion 5.26.0.1266 and I added the Toyota pack for 2006.
is the fact that I’m not seeing the “network E” interface (only “network A” an indication that some thing is not right? Appreciate the help!
Yes, the AHC dashboard requires PIDs that are part of network E. I see you posted that you added codes for 2006. I assume that means you are in a 100 series. I suspect your issue is that all these PIDs don’t overlap between the 100 and 200 series. I would say that’s not surprising since the systems have some similarities, but also a lot of differences.
