My brother has been messing around with some different logos. What do you guys think of this one?

I like it. I wonder what it would look like without the logo and the "offroad" aligned left with the Dissent.
^^^THIS!

Would the zinc primer be a good option for the DIY bumpers that are shipped? It seems like it would help prevent rust while in transit, but still allow the buyer to finish the powder coating at a local shop.

Lose the fist. Justify the spacing on 'off road' so that it spans the width of the word 'dissent'. Would be simple, clean, and easy to get stickers done.

I think I'm also on the "lose the fist" side now. And, while I'm always hypercritical of balanced justifications with logos (I run a small branding firm)... something about the "Off Road" hanging out there to the left kinda said "Yeah. I know it's not all centered up like it's supposed to be..."

(full discloser: I'm a brand strategist and naming guy - I work with great designers but have zero training, skills, talent...)

^^^^^ like that. Rough up the edges and streak up the paint to make it a little more stencil & spray paint look and I think it would be perfect. Offer the decal with clear backing with either white or black lettering.

I've been following this thread all along. Great looking bumper. Maybe one day I can step up and get one.

One of the things I hear designers talk a lot about is subtly - small things that go a long way to help tell the brand's story. There's something with those 'S's that seems like an opportunity for that - telling the "going a different way" story...

Thanks for the input guys, here are a couple others

The DIY kit requires welding so the primer would be a no go.

I think you are heading the right direction with the logo!
I vote to lose the fist n focus on the words! I would prefer some rough looking letters instead of clean lines!

The swoop of the wrist and the thumb resemble a cobra facing to the right...maybe I'm crazy, though.

Well... I kinda saw a rooster - looking up and to the left.

Sorry Ben. But, I guess it's better these are noticed early, and ya don't find yourself in the spot where Dodge did...

In a world where Chevy drivers hate Ford Drivers who both hate Dodge drivers, having a logo that is basically a p***y, was pretty unfortunate

Daewoo thought a jockstrap would make a great logo:

Yep, saw the rooster too. Hate roosters. Except for Foghorn Leghorn.

More comments from the peanut gallery on the logo. I like the fist and name, but showed it to my wife and she was totally confused about the graphic and name and what the business did. Ie, your metal work for offroad vehicles.

I imagine "Descent off road" is taken already. the fist your brother did, the thumb looked to me like a broken switchback trail. Make that more clear and shape the fingers of the fist into a mountain and you can tie descent with the homophone dissent with off road trail riding and raised fist simultaneously. I suspect many won't scrutinize your icon for hidden meaning so dissent may be lost for those. However it may make your product/service more obvious.
