So what was your final pick on the steel, 10 gauge? Bumper looks awesome!

Very nice work. Hadn't planned on a bumper yet but with this design and the fact that you have a DIY kit I am going to be 'forced' to get one once you have your LX kits ready.

Just need to see what the full bar looks like on the LX so I can make a decision between that and the stinger

You can get the bumper independently of what choice you pick because the only difference between the two will be the extra holes on the end of the wings for the tube plate! The bumper itself is the same as far as I can see. Right Ben?

Have you picked some kind of name for the stuff you are building yet? Have you even thought of that?

Something like:
Benc's Off-road
Benc's 4X4
North Cal Off-roading
NorCal Over-landing
Or something else in those lines! Make some T-shirts, ship them with the bumpers n we will show them off out there!
Just an idea ! :)

^^^ Yes but the only thing to that is he's now building more than bumpers!

Thanks for the ideas guys! I have been definitely been giving it some thought. I'm kind of liking, NorCal over-land

Ha! I swear Ben - I didn't prompt anyone on the naming thing.

As you're thinking of names, try to push yourself - beyond the descriptive terms. Names like "NorCal Overland' are tough - each is a "diluted" term, e.g. you can't stop others from using them. The other side of that - unique names... gotta make sure you're not infringing on existing brands. And as GetOutside pointed out - the name shouldn't be limiting with regard to what is being made... bumpers today... racks, sliders and who knows down the road.

Think of it as an intuitive or associative (relates to a benefit or point of differentiation) word + a descriptor (describes the category or offering. EX: "Apple Computers", "Lexus Cars", "Craftsmen Tools". The descriptor can drop or change over time, but the brand remains.

The name should be the starting point for the story of the brand, e.g. the answer to "How'd ya pick that name?" is the same as "Tell me why the world needs another ___ company". So an example for benc would be:

Dissent Overland Equipment, Inc.
"You don't follow the crowd in your truck. We don't follow the industry in our designs."

"Dissent" is an associative term; begins the story of not following the herd (ARB, TJM, IronMan, etc.); and appeals to owners who are not followers + "Overland Equipment", purely descriptive, puts company in segment; could also be "Fabrication", "Overland Gear", "Overland", "Off-road", etc.

Funny, I just started thinking about it yesterday and thought what you are building should have a cool name along with the awesome looks!
Had no idea you are already deep into brainstorming it!
Good luck choosing!

I'll vote +1 for Dissent. I've been lurking since post #1 and am simply trying to decide ($-wise) between a full-production, with stinger and full guard vs. a DIY and have a buddy weld it up.

Had to post this side shot because it looked too good not to. I'm going to remove my washer box from That spot altogether and do a custom one somewhere else eventually...
