Going to hold off on my slider purchase to see what you come up with.
The aluminum route sounds really appealing, looking forward to seeing the prototype

Delrin is strong but likley to brittle, uhmw is what is typically use for skids but still requires some backing.
I have considered using pieces of uhmw bolted to sliders and skids in the areas that see the most contact but it can get pretty pricey.
Thanks you for the Tip...

Time to explore now materials...

$69 eBay snorkel installed!
As other have said, pleasantly surprised with the quality and fit for $70!
Also got the video of the replacment motor, it all looked good so went ahead and ordered it. They said it could arrive by Wednesday.

Watching for sliders!

I can't wait to be able to say that I have fully Dissent off-road armored truck. I will be placing an order for the front bumper here really soon. And everything else you make I will purchase as well!

What is the link for this? I don't need one, but may grab it for total street cred!

Tires and wheels on, engine out and ironman pro foam suspension kit ordered.
New engine should go in tomorrow, going to do the rack bushings and starter contacts while the engine is out.
I was going to replace the timing belt, water pump and tensioner but looks like it was all changed recently on the new motor.
The exhaust manifolds were cracked so I welded them Up, hopfully it holds up and fixes the leak. I would get new ones but having a hard time finding them and don't have time to ordered them, I need to get this thing out of the shop by the end of the weekend so I can finish up some bumpers next week.

I have some BNIB DT headers if you're interested. Unless you are looking for some stockers!
I may be if the welds don't hold up. The only problem is I'm in California and they have not got their carb cert yet.
Pm me a price if you don't mind.
Thanks.

Long day but it's alive and running great! Looks like the radiator was likley the killer.
I'll post pics tomorrow.

So it wasn't the Tees?
Not sure, the ts have recently been replaced along with all heater hoses so I originally thought that was the culprit, upon further inspection of the radiator we found a crack at the seam. Lukily the local Napa had an oem denso radiator so we swapped it out.
I'm in it about $6500 now and that includes buying the truck, 130k motor, new radiator, rebuilt starter, rack bushings, weather tech floor mats, new tires x5, snorkel, full tune up / fluid change and suspension so even with having to replace the engine I'm still doing well.
Still on track to have a completly built and good running 100 for around 10k. Not bad considering I was into my last one about 27k!

What rack bushings did you get?
Not sure of the brand, it was the only ones Napa stocked. I typically prefer the the oem bushings as they give a little smoother feel to the steering but do ware out quick offroad.
The ones that Napa stocks are poly urethane.
