I suspect one of the biggest financial moves a part supplier can do to be competitive is work to get the best shipping/freight rates they possibly can. I had an absolutely eye opening experience dealing with FedEx a couple years back. They charged me $2k to send some equipment from CA to NC. When i got that invoice, once i got up from falling out of my chair, i looked at the original rental invoice and what the supplier charged me for shipping - $350. We had fed ex move my invoice to the suppliers account, and the rate went down by $1650 and i paid the supplier $350 for return shipping.Wow, that is a lot. Let me see if I can find out anything on my end.
