Right before the trip I had my mechanic go through the cooling system and replace everything.
Heater T's, and hoses, Radiator, and Hoses.
The radiator was starting to look brownish and had those spider cracks. While it may have gone longer it was just no longer worth the risk.
Heater T's were replaced with stainless parts and the Radiator and hoses were replaced with OEM.

I took the cruiser to K&H imports in canoga park and they did a great job. I would not hesitate to go back.

Yes, that's my daily driver i3 in the background, let's call it the anti land cruiser

Now we should be caught back up in the mod department, for now...

Just in time I took delivery of the new @Ramathorn15 ARB compressor mount that preserves the AHC. I'm not kidding when i say that (excluding wiring) I had it bolted up in less than 30 minutes. I had done the wiring over a couple of weekends previously so I was ready! Being the single version I was able to run it through my SPod. I used the ARB pressure switch in conjunction with a T fitting I found on amazon to control the on/off.

Just happened to click on this today. You and I are building interestingly similar trucks and also have an i3 as my alter-ego.

Glad you found my thread! I took Dirt Baby out over the holiday break and had some fun in Anza Borrego State Park. It is a beautiful place!.

Love your nice clean work an great job documenting it so thanks... I feel your thread costing me about a thousand dollars in upgrades in the near future 😂

At some point during these projects the dreaded CEL came on. I pulled the code and got an 0051.

According to the FSM this is Bank 2 Sensor 1.

Thankfully my friends at Amazon had an OE replacement in stock.

Out with the old and in with the new. I did have to run down to the local pep boys to grab a oxygen sensor wrench.

When I checked the resistance across the heater leads(black) I got an open circuit reading indicating that this was indeed a faulty part. A later test drive indicates no more CEL. Success!
What Obd code scanning system are you using & does it catch all codes?

Loving the build thread so far, and great documentation on everything you're modding. Definitely going to use some of the information you gave about the Trail Tailor hidden winch mount for my own build. Cheers!

Dude, I had the exact same Idea of getting an i3 when I eventually get a LC to offset the MPGs for my 10 mile commute from the valley to Century City. I also have the dilemma of where to park the LC when not in use.

It's high time for a recap of some of the adventures we have taken Dirt Baby on in the last several years....

1. The length of the Mojave Road ~150 miles offroad
2. More of the Mojave desert on the outskirts of the Mojave Road
3. The Bradshaw Trail
4. Anza Borrego
5. Death Valley 2x

The cruiser is now nearing 230k miles and I have been doing more maintenance than upgrades lately though there have been a few of those as well.

Upgrades:
1. Metaltech 4x4 uper and lower rear links.
2. Heavy Duty King Springs to bring AHC pressures inline while hauling lots of things.

Maintenance
1. AHC Flushes
2. AHC Globe Replacements
3. Replaced every rubber bushing in the suspension to tighten things up.
4. Began replacing weather stripping everywhere

Here are a selection of images from our trips.
