digital clock replacement. testing and requires dash removal? (1 Viewer)

gents, i have three bulbs to put in my AC controls which i am pretty sure i can get to with three screws.
does putting in a new digital clock require removing the whole dash? if so are there any tricks related to replacing a digital clock?
also i have a used one here. can test it first?

The black bezel around the clock pops right out and then you have access to the clock. Vent, clock, bezel all come out as one assembly.
