Thanks for the heads up about the fuse box, i have not compared it to the current one on the wiring harness yet. waiting on some harness wrap that is in the mail, gonna clean it all up this weekend i hope

you can`t get a perfect paint job for little money, needs a lot work and a lot $$$$$$
Don`t know what you pay in the States,
in Germany you have to pay for such a job about 10000 €
On a Cruiser I would do that job myself.

......thats a lottttttttt. But, I bet it looks like it though. I paid a good bit for the job, guy was just not familiar with cruisers is all....and the wife says im anal.

no worries

Body work is coming along.
They have been cutting out bits etc and fabing replacement bits for the places that were rusted through after blasting.

They said it might be all ready to take home in a month or 2 ( looks like they are doing it between other gigs etc )

They have fabbed a replacement support fro the rusted one here, will be swapped out first.

In early days of automobile history ( before 1920) cars were painted by brush (for example the legendary Ford T )
Think Destin have enough time to paint his jack in this technique

Tailgate wiring 1963: wire comes up and into tub behind the jamb area of the drivers side rear door. Then it takes a bend in the open around the door frame where a steel clip holds the wire to the door. From there it goes to the center of the door and through the door to the lamp. If you would like a picture I would be pleased to furnish it.

Yep, mine is just like that except the wire clips on mine are attached by a screw.

Stripped the front bits apart with the intention of looking at the timing gears...

but i could not figure out how to get the lower pully off...

No nuts that i could see...

( yeah the shop is a mess i know )

So how do i get this off?

I just need to buy gasket and new timing gear yeah?
Where is a reliable place to get these?

You can and should get the gears from Toyota. Get both, gasket and seal should be available too. The seal will crumble when you take it out. Numbers should be in the part # thread. You need a puller to get the pully off, there should be two tapped holes in the face of the pulley that you'll thread into. My cheapo harbor freight one actually came with the correct bolts. The pulley "Presses" on with a BFH when you reassemble. Generator was the same color as the starter.

so I think these are all the bits i need aside from the pully "puller"

Timing Cover Gasket 11328-61010
Timing Cover Seal 90311-45069 034-29A Beck-Arnley 052-2144
Crank Timing Gear 13521-60010
Camshaft Gear 13523-60030 (Steel replacement for fiber gear)

Anything else?

Want to have all the parts and do it in one swoop!

ok pulled the generator and cleaned it up, preped and put 2 coats of hunter green on it, looks great.

Will install it tomorrow after it sets up completely

Waiting on pulling the pully and timing gears until i make my order and recieve parts.

Just so i am clear.


When i pull the pully and remove the timing cover...

Do i just pull the cam and timing gears, and replace them with steel ones and put the new gasket and timing cover back on?

Or do i need to remove the timing plate as well, and put the rear timing gasket on, timing plate, cam and timing gears, timing cover gasket, then install timing cover and hammer on the pully?

Also, does that pully just stay on by hammering it back on? no clip? lock washer?
