Sounds good Keith! Thanks again to you and Han for hosting.

Looks like I'll be able to make it. Just me.

If we're getting mains and sides from Rudy's and Han is preparing desserts, somebody else brings a veggie tray, what's left to bring? Just the T4T and white elephant? Beer? More dessert?

Oh, the sides you listed sound great to me too.

Food is ordered. I'm picking it up at 530 - but you're welcome to come over around 5 if you want. The food will be at the house by 6.

I live at the end of a large cul-de-sac and I'm the only house on it, so there will be ample room for parking.

Behold: The end result of 10 hours in the vehicle, $10 tree permit, 2.5 hours in the ER, and five stitches.

Tree cutting permit: .... $10.00
Gasoline: ................... $40.00
ER visit: ................... $500.00

Son's first Christmas tree: Priceless.

:D

Fancy! It looks better than it did in the back of my truck, and also obscures my mirrors less. ;)

I'm now a solid "maybe." Republic wants me to go on a 6 day (that will cost me 7) boondoggle, and I assert that my contract says I don't have to. Of course: I'm right.

I'll know more when it gets closer (why do I say that pretty much every month??)

Dan

We really need to set up some kind of a program to post the directions to meetings in a timely manner.

I am planning on being there.

Vince

If you want to bring an extra dessert and some pop - or whatever you want to drink. We'll have some coke type drinks on hand here.

I also cleaned out some PMs, so my box is open again.

Since this will be our first White Elephant/Toys for Tots xmas party, I'd like some clarification!

White Elephant gift - will this this be strictly for Land Cruisers or should we encompass just about anything under the sun? My wife was curious if she should find a gift that would also include the wives.

Also, this gift is for entertainment purposes, not an actual practical gift - from my past experience!

Toys for Tots - simply a new toy still in the original packaging. I suppose we should gift wrap it as well?

Just making sure!

All good questions from Ali - any input from anyone? Ellen was wondering the same thing about the white elephant gift.

Toys-4-tots in original packaging as from the store - they gift wrap and sort toys by age and sex. White Elephant not sure, but we picked up a item that could be used in the home or in the vehicle. Also, if anyone doesn't have my address yet please PM me for it. See you all tomorrow!

Ok, we did some research and the traditional "White Elephant Gift Exchange" goes something like this: First and foremost it's not supposed to be a conventional gift that you are giving to make a good impression or anything. It's supposed to be goofy, impractical, ugly even. Know that plate that says "Happy Mothers Day 1979" or the 10th mug crammed in to your kitchen cabinet with a bank logo OR that god awful tie that you just keep hanging onto for whatever reason? Those are perfect examples.
They MUST be wrapped, they go in a pile, everyone draws numbers. #1 picks a gift and DOES NOT unwrap it. #2 then has the choice of taking the gift #1 chose away from him OR choosing one from the pile. This goes on until all the gifts are spoken for and the unwrapping only happens then.
Preferably no money is spent on this but if you really can't find anything at home, I'd say no more than $5.

The way I understand it is a bit different. Whoever gets #1 opens thier gift. #2 then picks or can steal #1's gift, then #1 picks again. Gift opened. #3 can pick or steal from either #1 or #2 and one stolen would have to pick again and open. #4 can pick or steal from previous three and so on. Goes on like this until the last gift is opened. In order to keep one gift stolen over and over and make the game last forever, the group can agree to a gift only being stolen a certain nuber of times. Many ways to play it. but why would you want to steal an unkonwn gift for another unkown gift?

Rudy's got a point. When I've played before, the gifts are opened as they are chosen. Then the last person to pick a gift gets to keep the gift they opened (at least until it gets "chosen" by someone else) or they can trade for any other gift that's already been opened.

Sounds good to me.
