Narrow including the plastic covers on the hinge is 50 1/4 inches. Let me know if I can measure anything else.

If it’s 50+ here, then no...it won’t work 😞

I was hopeful since the FJ60 is 54” across the widest part also.

Yup. No go. I was measuring the cloth seats out of a 94 that seem the same as my leather ones.

Probably explains why nobody has done it already... thanks anyway for the offer @Comet and @forrest5000. If you ever decide to go in reverse and put an FJ60 bench seat in your FJ80, I got you covered ;)

Might be worth looking at the 80 series 3rd row seats?

@SeanLX That was going to be my next thought. I've sourced the right LR3 configuration at a place in Raleigh, but was thinking something from an 80 series might look more "natural" if I can get away with it.

I wonder how much could be shaved off the arc of the inner wheel wells to widen the space available in the cab?

Does anyone in the club have an FJ60 with a carbureted V8 swap? I’ve got questions 🤔

The purist in me just threw up. Do it man! A quiet v8 swap would be a jaw dropping sleeper. I know nothing of a swap or what’s involved. I’m just the guy in the background chanting do it over and over.

I am also a purist most of the time and have a virtually untouched 60, but the other one needs a lot of work...why not go crazy!?!

Mines not carbureted, it’s the 5.7 vortec. I bought it this way, and I’m not sure that I would have chosen this route myself, but it has kind of grown on me.

Automatic or manual trans?

What is carbureted? :)

I've read your posts about why you are using an old SBC with a carb. But to me you may as well throw on some wood wagon wheels with metal bands as well to complete the theme. :)

And I am an old guy too. I actually had vehicles with carbs, some dual carbs.

That would be saweet, imagine the burnouts you could do with wheels like that.

Go real old school, set it up with trips and you can spend all your Saturdays trying to get them in sync and wondering why the center cylinders run richer the the ends.

Easy everyone. My carb'd ride is still putting a smile on my face. Yes, my next engine will be FI but when it comes to doing the job and doing it well, the right carb matched to the right engine is a solid setup.

But we digress. David, what are your questions? Some of us also have sbc 40's and can likely help.

I agree with you Rice, it's just a preference and some good natured ribbing. Kinda like diesel, I get the fascination but personally, if it does not work for a living I don't want one. I have a diesel in my tractor :) It's also business for me. I see it all the time at auctions, multi port fuel injection is king of the hill and brings the most $ at sale.

But that does not mean I do not respect the true classics. There are many vehicles out there that it would be a sin to "molest" by turning them into a RestoMod. Example, we saw a 65 Buick Rivera at auction, stock with matching numbers, trips. To me it would be a sin to RestoMod that particular car, but Restoring it to factory specs would most likely not even bring you back your investment on sale. The market has gone away for true restorations. Where as we saw the same year model at a salvage yard in rough shape that would be a fine candidate for a RestoMod.

David is going to build what he wants and if I can help in any way I certainly will. I just can't help much with his carb setup and what distributor is a good buy these days.
