I have taken my top off for the first time and it seems that the dash knobs that run through the dash and are supposed to screw into the lower part of the windsheild - do not screw into the windsheild. It seems as if there is a part that needs to be screwed in to accept the threaded end of the knob. Does anyone have a picture of that or know where is a good place to source that part?

Hope this helps. This is what it looks like without the dashpad installed.

There is usually a spacer in between the nut and the windshield knob. I think it's there so you don't overtighten the windshield maybe. I think I have 2 extras if you think they are necessary.

They are totally necessary. Otherwise you are tightening against the windshield gasket only and the windshield will wobble in the wind.

Fast Eddy,

Would you know why I might be having such a problem with the alignment of the Knobs with the Windshield brackets? When I take the Windshield down, the screws seem to go in fine. When I try to insert them threw the holes in the dash, it becomes an alignment nightmare. I just can't seem to get things to line up, especially on the passenger side. I know the Gasket is a bit crushed especially on that right corner, but I wouldn't think it would throw things off that much. I'm using the Cruiser Corp Knobs.... would the CCOT OEM or Aftermarket Knobs be a better choice perhaps?

Is there any play in your windshield hinges? Another thing to consider is loosening you windshield hinges a bit and then wiggling it until the dash knobs line up. Then tighten everything down.

I usually pull on the corner of the windshield while I'm screwing them in. You could also try a bit of grease. Even with the OEM ones they are finicky, especially if you have a good, puffy gasket fighting against you.
