Runs great!
The transmission does not work and it sounds like the flywheel bolts backed out.
Tearing it down and finding 40 years of questionable repairs.

Hi all,

Neat rig D'Animal! My 40 is a 11/74 manufacture, but came to me with a '78 vintage 2F and the '78's hard top. Oh, and a butt load of bondo over the rusty sheetmetal (lived it's first 23 years in Kansas and Missouri.)

It is nice to see one in closer to original condition!

It has some mechanical issues. The owner thought the front axle grenaded.
Nope, grandson swapped the front tires and wheels from a Chevy product.

Even the spare was messed up.

Swapped on one of my spares to get it off the trailer.

I found another problem, but I don't believe it is THE problem.

Looks like a cotter pin, or what is left of one.

I guess I will have to search the parting out section to see if anybody has the rest of the balls they want to get rid of.

Looks like I only need the bottom row.

Polish this up and it should be good to go.

Overall that 40 is not to bad, but judging from the chain around the front spring one would gather you did not drive it home?
