No more semi-floating! This looks pretty nice. Shipping cost outside of Australia would be terrible though.

Toyota Sued Dana over Rusty Tacoma Frames. Was only like 30 million thou. Peanuts in Auto World

Why I would put a Dana 60 in the back of my cruiser having the Mr. T FF option ..?

X2 on what @Locked79 said, this is for the VDJ7# cruisers that have a front/rear track difference as wheel spacers are illegal over here, hence the axle swap.

Ozzie's, question from afar, why not just throw a 105 axle under the rear. Should be pretty close to width of this Dana axle.

Some people have done that but you'd either have to sort out leaf spring perches or put the 80/105 5 link in as all the 70s are lea sprung rear. Dana hav developed a bolt-in solution. Personally, I'd coil the rear if I had a VDJ7# but then you'd have to screw around with Engineering approval etc to ge it road legal

While all the folks in Oz get cool trucks, they can't do s*** to them without getting a reach around from the local authorities.

So is that the poetic justice that everyone in NA is looking for considering we can do ANYTHING we want to any truck with a damn plate on it.

We can do whatever we want to what we can't have!....:bang:

Seriously though, our regulations are a little excessive - I have a 2" lift, 285/75r16 general grabbers, 3" exhaust, custom panel filter airbox, Gturbo, intercooler, XXi pump etc etc and to make it actually road legal I would need to pay an engineer $1800-$2500 to do swerve test, brake test, noise test and so-on. Seems a little over the top...

A little?

In addition your benevolent government crushed millions of "nasty" firearms with lineage dating back close to 100 years. I guess I'll have to settle for no VDJ79 and a safe full of M1 Garands. A hell of a choice to make but I come out with the long end of the stick.

Hello,

You guys beat me to this, as I found the site last Friday.

There is also a high torque shaft available. Not cheap, though.

The Dana 60 is deemed as a heavy duty axle, so it makes sense to use it for 70 Series applications. Notice that Jeeps mount Dana 40 axles, which are not as tough.

Interestingly, Land Cruisers assembled in Venezuela had Dana 60 rear axles, probably due to local component requirements. Most parts are interchangeable with Toyota components, or so the specifications say.

I saw a video in YT where Aussie guys where performing a rear axle swap on a VDJ79 and the " kit " included a 4 link setup ( which was the reason for me to watch the video ) and since was bolt on .. I guess they have to had new axle .?

It used to be good in Australia with no red tape but so many home builders under engineered there work causing major problems in accidents with bucket seat installs etc. That's what opened the can off worms downunder.

Do the 70 series full floaters ever fail in Oz I know you've got 1,000,000s of Km's of corrugated dirt roads all through the outback that's tough enough to kill anything

I've only ever seen one, it's a very very rare occurrence. This is a 75 series.
