Dakota Digital now officially offering 80 series RTX gauges.

Custom is quite a bit more than 2500 now..

I don't know if it has all of the
Congrats to all! having updated instruments make all the difference. I personally like mine a little better interms of the color scheme but hey! this is way cheaper and does the exact same thing.

Do you know if the bottom row has all the O.E. warnings in it? where's the High beam?

I got them to do the TJ and the 80 series instruments! this is awesome

It does have high beam for sure. That's standard, along with parking brake, cruise, 4x4, and others. I will ask about the rest.

Kinda been available for years. Thank this guy:

Yeah, saw that. I'm also told this is based on something done for ICON/TLC 80s. Gotta be some kinda connection there...

One Cluster To Rule Them All…

Sub'd for your review. Really interested in the fit and quality.
I may not be the first review; I’m thinking about pulling the dash, 'while I'm in there…'

Given the pedigree, I’d be amazed if it’s anything less than awesome.

I wonder how much of the display could be fed with OBDII data for us LS Swap guys... 🤔

They did write that gear position isn't available on the GM Connect and Cruise package, but I wonder if it is available on other GM motors.
They sell a doohickey that converts OBDII data and routes it to DD clusters. Maybe this is what you're looking for...?

Thanks. I did see that the BIM-01-2 is part of ordering options. The question wasn't if OBD-II was supported, but how much of it.

I was hoping for detailed list of engines (ECM/TCM) and functions supported or not supported. It lots of money to spend only to see vague language.

The above middle line should have more specificity. What TCMs? Integrating gear number into the dash would be huge for LS Swaps.

Along with the RTX dash, BIM-01-2 would simplify LS swaps, reducing wiring complexity.
  1. Water Temp
  2. Oil Pressure
  3. Check Engine Light
  4. Speed
  5. Tach/RPM
  6. Gear Position <-Maybe.
The first 4 are easy in a LS Swap. 1) and 2) just require adding Toyota sensors to the motor. 3) is one wire to the GM ECM 4) stock Toyota wiring

5) can be difficulty for many.

6) If BIM-01-2 doesn't work for gear position, then one must use GSS-3000. GSS-3000 can be funky to install, and then one must integrate it into the Toyota harness.

So, it would be really nice to know which TCMs will report gear position that a BIM-01-2 can read and pass along to the RTX dash.

One thing I see missing is Park/Neutral Safety switch capability, which obviously requires reading gears.

The Swaptime MCM, which is can bus based, has a Park/Neutral Safety output, which is what I used for my swap, but the GSS-3000 can be used in that role, but it indirectly reads Park/Neutral from the shifter, rather than the transmission like the Swaptime MCM. I much prefer reading it from the transmission....

My LX450 Toyota dash works 100% for my LS Swap, but if I was starting over, I would consider the RTX gauges especially if gear indicator works.

yep. Not exactly cheap.. but this is normal range for their gauges. includes all new digital sending units, custom configurable warning outputs, service interval reminders, MPG calcs, DTE, etc etc etc. and can possibly plug into OBD port and grab most data from the ECU. Can also rig up aux pressure senders for boost, etc.

You should see what a fully built custom cluster costs!

I am stoked though that these clusters are a production item now.

Cheers

Here's what I get from them, and why the wording is not terribly specific...

The presence of the gear data in an OBD II application, when using our BIM-01-2, is ultimately a combination of the hardware used along with the software being utilized. As a general rule of thumb, if the hardware is pulled from a donor vehicle and the software remains intact, we'll expect to see the gear data.
In the case of a crate motor, this data is often not transmitted, so we will not see information for display.
As a result, we just aren't able to accurately provide a list of hardware which will contain gear data, as this is much more dependent upon any modifications to the software.

Realized when full specs released that I ‘needed’ a few extras for shift lights, adjustable dimming and (of course) ext air temp and compass. Looks stock, but all the bells and whistles underneath. Loving this!

I did some investigation with my 6L90e transmission and if it transmits Current Gear. I mean, it came from a van..so no reason to expect it to transmit gear.

HP Tuner does indeed show Current Gear.

Torque Pro was not initially able to show Current Gear, but I was able to modify the configuration to enable it.

Scangauge II does not show Current Gear, and I have not been able to add it via xgauge customization. My Scangauge II is running the latest firmware.

What this tells me is Current Gear may not be easy and might require customization.

I would love to get a hold of a BIM-01-2 to test..., but not worth spending $140 to find out..😆

Mine arrives tomorrow…

Installed a Dakota Digital cluster in a customer’s 40…can vouch that they make great stuff

Well it’s here…very nice quality and feel…I may have excess sensors given my planned application/install…
