I'll have to discuss it with the other guys. The intervention was their idea. Just so I understand, you've consolidated all your junk into 1 bedroom, plus the storage room in the back yard, and the garage. Correct?

Oh no. I still have junk in the back yard and a few things in the garage. I just consolidated what I had in the house.

I will run this by the group but my first reaction is that the hounds will be coming with vigor if those bins are not emptied and the body parts bolted onto DA 40 by Sept 30th.

And for the record.... you're not fooling anyone by shuffling your bucket of bolts from one bedroom to another. That might convince Dan and Stevie cause they're old and Shawn after he had his brains knocked out of his eye socket, but those of us with a keen memory will not be tricked that easily.

Well, I haven't shuffled the buckets of bolts around, but the cats sure have had fun. I think it's is safe to say that there isn't a piece of furniture, or an appliance, without some bits under it.

And, "for the record," it's da'ffy.

Back on track....

I really like that color you selected. How many coats are you applying?

I'll keep applying until I get it right. I'm on about three coats right now, but there has also been a bit of sanding in between each. I'm going to give her one more sanding, they try and polish it out. We will see where I'm at after the polishing. I keep getting something that looks like extreme orange peel. Some guys over in the paint and body section thought it was a chemical reaction, but I've been consistant with the thinner, so I wasn't convinced.

I think the issue is with the hardener, but, I think I figured out the problem this weekend. I've been using mineral spirits to thin the paint and hardener. I noticed this weekend that the hardener was not mixing with the mineral spirits and was floating at the bottom of the mix. To try and solve this I bought a can of lacquer thinner and did a test mix with the hardener. It appeared that the hardener mixed completely. I then added some paint and rolled it out. So far so good. Next time I will try and spray the mix and see what happens.

Painted this morning, as usual. This afternoon I tackled the CB install into the Tuffy center console. More involved than it should have been, but I think this works, except for having to remove the mic when I put it to sleep.

I need to paint the spacers black, and get 5mm screws to hold it in place. Minor compared to trying to get the spacers sized just right.

Looks like a nice clean install, and it should be nice and secure, even with no top.

The paint isn't perfect. But as folks remind me ... it's a trail truck. I think with a little color sanding it will look real good. I think I finally have this painting thing figured out just in time to paint the tub. That is:

Use lacquer thinner instead of mineral spirits to mix the paint and hardener.
Make sure to wipe down the panels with a tack cloth.
Mix 8:2:1 paint:thinner:hardener, and
Use a 1.5 nozzle instead of the 1.3 and move slower with the gun.

I still need to finish the fenders. The doors and windshield frame still need to be sand blasted.

Today I tried my hand at color sanding. It was actually not that hard. I was very conservative with the sand paper. I didn't want to blow through to the primer on the high spots. Sure glad this is a trail truck. The finish is OK for that, but certainly not show quality. I would probably get the bits real shiny with more sanding, but why?

I've sort-of started the assembly. I glued on the gaskets to the kick vents last night. Today I'll assemble the hood ... bolt on the hood hinges, hold downs, and hood ornament. And I'll assemble the bib/grill/bezel.

Right after I figure out which one of those boxes this stuff is in.

So, you're finding stuff in boxes and assembling it now. After it's assembled you're going to take everything apart, put it back in boxes, paint the frame, find the stuff in the boxes again and reassemble it?

Aren't you putting the cart before the horse?
