Looks like it's coming along great! And that frame looks surprisingly nice too!

I would say because its a newer HZJ or BJ 74 or73, but I have a BJ74 with a frame worse than anything I have ever seen in all my years of working on cruisers, plated from the first inch of the frame to the rear of the frame.

Yeah it's fun, not gonna win any awards for cosmetics, but it's a truck.

I'm looking forward to starting on the tray, still haven't decided on steel vs aluminum...but I think I'm going to copy something like this.

Minus the side boxes behind wheels.

All the old welds from crap I've removed.

For the record, removing a pto from an hj61 is annoying as s***, 9 bolts and they're all a bitch to access.

Still don't know what I'll use it for, but it's more likely to be used on this thing. There's a way to make it rear output, but it depends what I do with it. Just wanted it on there for when I work on the hump.

And got my front ubolt flip mostly finished off. 3/8" plate I had kicking around, with some flattened off rod welded underneath to locate them on the stock ubolt saddles.

I've again maxed out the rear 60 springs... I want to get this thing on its feet with wheels and the body, so i can see if the front axle needs to move forward more. Really just whether the wheel looks right in the fender.

If it doesn't I'll probably move the hangers rather than find different springs.

I had to throw it together to get a look at it outside, and do a clean up.

It's starting to look like the picture in my head...
Working tomorrow, not sure what we're doing today.

It's about 27" back from the cab. Could still push it back another 1.5", but I think this'll be ok. Really just about proportions and how it looks under the box.

Pretty much.

Basically, I needed a bunch of stuff out of it that would render it immobile, and the easiest thing would be to let some scrap junkies come take it for free, but I'd rather waste a day cutting it up than let those skids anywhere near my house

Cruiserpilot took the roof. Complained a lot.

when you're keeping the entire drive train, all removable body panels and the firewall...there really isn't a helluva lot left over.

Trying to decide if that's the spot for the front axle. I could easily move it back about an inch, which might be closer to stockish location in the fender.
Clearly I need to drink a beer or two and stare at it.

I just looked at it dead sober at high noon and I would move it back an inch so I better start to drink it pretty the way it is.

If that is where your lift and tire size are going to stay, then I'd be inclined to move the axle back a bit. But I'm no expert.
