I know every one already has said how awsome the rig looks but will say that I was heart broken to find out that some one had beat me the orange 80. I just got my 80 and want to paint it SOOO bad. The rig looks killer I might be your biggest fan post more pics! The disco guys black out on the rise on the hood and I was thinking of doing that to but you beat me. Hope it works great for you happy trails!

It took a 36hr wrench fest but we made it. Chad literally slept in the shop and had his girlfriend bring him food to keep working. We worked through the night Friday night and at 5:20AM Sat. we both left the shop for 30 mins to run back to our homes for a shower prior to the 1200 mile trip to CM. Met back at the shop at 6 AM and loaded NEW PIG on to the trailer for the trip out. We both got lucky and one of the guys in the group had 3 people in his tow rig. The guy (Will) riding in the back offered to drive… he drove ALL THE WAY. I slept in another tow rig and Chad crashed in my rig with Will driving.

Here is the truck built on Sunday afternoon up on Moab Rim. Good run but as Cascade Crusier tradition we had a club member brake bad. LT aka Green weenie blew his rear pinion. Ran the truck up AND down Potato Salad hill Sunday night and almost rolled it!

Good event and great seeing old friends from around the US. Sitting here in the campground in Moab, beer in hand life is good!

WOW!

Don't know as there is much more to say - other than I'm a teeny bit jealous that I"m not there.

Nice flex, Mark. I'd love to see a pic of that front tire flexed up into the cut fender!

How did your armor hold up? Any good hits to your bumper/slider prototypes?

Nice man ..

I hope the PUMPKINATOR has an alarm. Give you a way to locate it if it gets lost in just the right light at dusk .. those moab rocks are orange/red yes? :D

"Damn! I'd swear, I left it right here!!"

Here are some shots of the truck just after going down white knuckle yesterday. Front right is stuffed into the wheel well here, it fits well. You can see the 37” tire fits the rear well too.

Yes the armor is working outstanding. I will start a new thread on its performance. Gotta go run Hells Revenge now….

Mark,

I can't believe I missed this thread but I don't wander to the 80 section often.
Thanks for letting me drive that beast. I love it!!

My favorite color, iroks, etc. what's not to like. Between CDan telling me I need a comfort wheeler and your generosity putting me in the seat, i'm having withdrawls ;p

Thanks for the beer and support at CM. Cascade guys rock. :D

having a red bull

got away from him when the tranny went dry due to the angle

I thought I should post on here to cap off the thread (now that I have slept enough to see straight). This trip was a blast: the 80 did better than we could have hoped for and Mark's driving style made for perfect testing of the mods. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to work on this rig and tag along for Moab. I'm already excited for next year... until then, I need to sleep under my 80 for a few nights! (Maybe I can talk Woody into changing my screen name to CreeperSleeper)

Its the gimp!

Better than that BBQ burning junk you drag around!

Ok folks hijack my own thread. LT recently converted his truck to propane. A few weeks ago he had the hood up trying to set the carb in front of the shop. Well I could not resist and why he was by the steering wheel I lit up a blast of starting fluid across his bow from the engine bay. Needless to say ol' LT came hopping around the drivers door darn quick! As an added bonus my bay door security cam caught it so you can see a screen shot! It took me a good 20 min to stop laughing.

End hijack.

Time to revive this thread. Mark you said you were going to....

"NEWPIG is sporting an off the shelf J’ lift F&R. I am running 2” drop spacers in the front to level and get the true lift. Shocks are also off the shelf Old Man just for this coming event. There is no correction for caster or pan-hard bar pull for now. This is a non issue since the truck will spend distance travel on a trailer. When I get back from CM the front axle is getting linked using my Hyper-joints I started testing this last year.

The key thing with these is you get the shock absorption with the almost 3” rubber bushing, yet it can freely rotate on the threaded shaft. The main body that welds onto the control rod has a zirk to grease the threads directly and an engineered lip seal to keep the junk out (No offence Junk!). The concept has been around for awhile. My thought all along for these is for under the 80.

We now have 4 test trucks running these all are large V8 built FJ40’s (38” to 40” tires), no issues. I will do a three link in the front with the panhard bar and 12” coilovers. The rear will just get re-linked and a set of long travel shocks. I hope to move the rear axle back a few inches to be able to cut into the body more for stuffing the tires better. I would love to do it before CM but just don’t have the time. (Wondering if I will get even what is started done!) I will use Rubithon as the dead line for the front re-linking. I am loosing travel by not being able to put a longer shock on up front. The brake master cyl. Is in the way to extend the shock height under the hood, unless I pull the ABS system, and I am not ready to do that.

How has this progressed? Picts please...
