Well I pulled into work this morning and saw a whole lotta oil on the ground. After I checked oil and fired it up again it turned out to be the unused oil sensor on the drivers side of the block that was spewing oil. I have my sensor on the oil filter housing. When I grabbed the sensor it broke in half in my hand. Lucky enough I had an 1 1/8 sock here at work to remove and now am going to get a NPT plug to put back in. It must of blew close to work because I only had to add a quart of oil.

I thought the worst which was tappet cover gasket. That is a fix in which the injection pump has to come out.

Underbody would be nicely coated for midwest winter now. You can see the oil spots all over the rear bumper.

What size thread is that sensor? 1/4" NPT? I have an Isspro Oil Pressure guage that I need to hookup and a drivers side sender placement is ideal.

1/8 npt. I’m thinking low oil sensor if it’s low enough but I don’t think it is.

I have one of @NLXTACY's underhood guage panel/battery disconnect pieces with an oil pressure guage and a coolant temp guage, need to get it installed and that port should be useful.

Thanks. One of my failures though overall. Way too much assembly and issues all around. I love it though although I wish I made one for myself but they all have customer names on them. Oh well.

New shocks arrived. Bilstein 7100s with 400/100 valving. Probably be next week when I get around to figuring out the best way to install. Present shocks are so bad I feel like I’m driving a waterbed.

I got the front shocks mounted today. Wasn't too bad. Only issue I had was the bushings I bought to replace the heim joints were a tad wide for the shock adapter so I just ground 2mm off each side. I also reused the original stem mount bushings and washers. It helped center the adapter in the hole a little better. Plus it added addition 3/4-1" to help maintain the same amount of travel I had with the OME shocks.
So here is the breakdown of costs so far that went into the front shocks.

$179.75 each - Bilstein 7100 series shock.
$23.99/pair - Explorer Pro Comp stem mount to eyelet adapter. You will need a pair for each front shock.
$10.22/pair - 19-920-BL bushing. Also a pair per shock.
$213.96 per shock total. Well below the cost of Fox, King, or Slee reservoir shocks. Not saying they aren't worth it but they are out of my price range.

Old shocks were toasted.


And the new installed. I want to mount the reservoir on top of the spring like Slee does. I just need to fab up a mount. For the rear I need to figure out how I will adapter them. I have a few ideas that I will try tomorrow or next weekend.

I’ve been piddling with a rear platform this week. It will eventually get a raised platform added on the passenger side for sleeping. Maybe a drawer but odds are it will just be a storage cubby under the sleeping platform.
It wasn’t as easy as I thought. The rear floor is not flat so a few different sized spacers were needed for it to bolt down flat. For anchor points I used all available holes. 17 total all recessed so I don’t bang a knee on them while crawling around. I used 3/4” birch so I had plenty of material left after making the bolt head sit flush.

One thing to note is the 3rd row seatbelt anchor is 7/16-20 not metric. All seat belt bolts are standard.

Front shock resivoir mount done...but I think I will drill the holes over an inch to make the resivoir more even on it. I should have test fit before paint.

I worked on rear storage contraption for awhile after work. Almost done and ready for paint. Once rear section is done I will move on to front half which will take place of second row seat to extend sleeping platform. I am keeping everything modular so I can easily unbolt each section. T nuts hammered into the underside of the platform work great to bolt additional stuff down.
It’s been awhile since working with wood and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. I broke out the table saw and many other tools that have not seen action is awhile.

I started painting the plywood today. The box will receive carpet but I still don’t want any swelling due to water/spilled beer.
Home Depot had a pretty close match to the plastic trim. At least good enough.
