Well done on the film. What a remarkable achievement . Can a bunch of dirty, greasy 40 series owners come to the premier?
Ain't finished! Just a few stills old mate.

Dear Cult,

I've attached images of Emm Wiseman and Andy McPhee...........the stars of your film.

I'll have to check my calendar, but I think I'm free to escort Emm Wiseman to the launch, if she is struggling for a date.

Regards,

Ben

PS., Andy McPhee is a scary look'n mother. I'm definitely not putting my hand up to be his date for the night.

PSS, For those wondering the first image is Emm Wiseman. The second image is Andy McPhee. I thought it was important to clarify that.

You should see her in real life Ben. And Andy is 6' 5". Luckily he's left the Sons behind.

Update.

A couple weeks ago the legal eagle and I split. Nothing sinister, just different life trajectories. She wants to settle down, I want to make films and see more of the world. This is part of the reason The Pitch has been idle for so long. Relational obligations. I tried so hard for so long but it just ain't me. Well, no more.

Over the Christmas break we're dissolving the house [rental], finding new digs and more importantly - working on my truck! This thing far out needed some work. Some things I missed in the original 'builds' lol [if I can use that term] and some things that cropped up being a fifty year old truck. Yes, this year my 45 turns 50! Not bad for a daily [and a self-entitled, high-maintenance movie star!]!!

I wheeled the thing down to our demo yard at work, an ex-gas station. Settled in under the awning and busted out the stereo and the MIG..

1. Repaired the damaged apron from when we hit the 6ft big red during filming in 2017 [it's been that long!]. Not so pretty but it fits the theme ;)

IMG_1960.jpg

2. Filled umpteen inner guard holes, tidied wiring, heat-shrunk a bunch, new terminal blocks and p-clamps. Panel washers throughout. Painted 'overflow bottle'. Lol.
IMG_1961.jpg

3. Relocated/painted the alternator. This thing still pulls 13.8v at idle so no internal works, just beautification :D Colour-coded that bad boy just like a 90's street machine! Haha
IMG_1962.jpg

4. Looks tops I reckon! Very happy with the outcome!

IMG_1963.jpg

5. New radiator stays. Originally, 1970 trucks were fitted with one long stay that ran from the top of the radiator support to the firewall rib. I added another one for insurance. It was so hard to do anything around them, so I copied Andy Maconochie's late 1973 setup and made these bad boys with the original rods and some sleeving. They're bolted to the chassis in a OE captive nut mount for the original brake line routing [long gone]. They're bolted to two new captive bolts in the radiator support. Heat shrunk the engine earth too!

IMG_1964.jpg

My rear end started making some noise so I found a FF for pretty darn cheap and whacked her in. That's when I learned this damn truck has 4.11's! I'd always assumed she was a 3.70 rig due to the J30 trans. Guess not! I also got donated handbrake backing plates for my new FF axle. Thinkin ahead.. ;)

1. Repaired the fan shroud. This thing was beaten up to hell. I welded strips of 2mm to each side to strengthen it up and to give myself a blank canvas for new holes. Kind of upgraded it while I was there. It's a pest of a thing to remove just the shroud because the bolts also hold the radiator in, so I drilled out the two [of six] centre bolt holes in the shroud big enough that the shroud will fit over the bolts heads. So the two centre bolts hold in just the rad, but the top and bottom four hold in the rad and the shroud. Also wleded the s*** outta some major cracks.

2. Shroud tacks.
IMG_1966.jpg

3. Added this brace to the rad support. No moving now! Also repaired some previous poor workmanship by me and filled a bunch of holes. Added the two captive bolts for the stays.
IMG_1967.jpg

4. Did some chassis work. Turned those dang guard bolts into studs with the MIG. I used a stepped bit to vee the holes a bit and wleded them from both inside and out. Little flap disc and some satin and boom. Purty.
IMG_1968.jpg

5. Captives! No escape!
IMG_1969.jpg

1. 60 series steering arms.
IMG_1970.jpg

2. More chassis cleanliness.
IMG_1971.jpg

3. What, what?? Yep, 60 series PS box with BJ74 pitman arm. Cut guard with corner brace. Notched shock tower with brace welded back in.
IMG_1972.jpg

4. 60 series PS box with BJ74 pitman arm. Cut guard with corner brace. Notched shock tower with brace welded back in.
IMG_1973.jpg

5. 4mm plate, 4mm wall crush tubes and OE PS box bolts.
IMG_1974.jpg

1. Bomb shot. 60 series box, 60 series lines, GM pump, rad support stay.
IMG_1975.jpg

2. GM pump and brackets.
IMG_1976.jpg

3. 60 series lines. A little bendy-bend and they went straight in. Hence the alternator relocation of olde.
IMG_1977.jpg

4. Same again but new angle.
IMG_1978.jpg

5. Those with good [great?] memories will recall this is a 1970 45 with a 1974 cab. Hence the firewall 'cup'. But true to tradition it has the earlier wheel and column. So I got rhe shaft splined for a Toyota uni [I think they're a 60 series/Corolla/70 series OE part.
IMG_1979.jpg

1. Filled the old hole where the OE steering box used to be. Lap welded it but should have butt welded it. Filled about a million holes in this guard as well.
IMG_1981.jpg

2. These dang cracks!!
IMG_1982.jpg

3. I made this hood prop. I like the prop, I hate the mounting. Gonna redo at a later stage. It sits in the large nut on the radiator support.
IMG_1983.jpg

4 & 5. Brand new HJ75 TRE's. 555 baby!!
IMG_1995.jpg

IMG_1996.jpg

That's it for now. Play time is over. Time to move house and finish my damn fine cut.

Sorry to hear about you and Padme. That’s the way life goes sometimes. Good work on the 45 mate!

Thanks Michael. It's the worst break up I've been through but also the most peaceful. Lots of respect on both sides.
