Was snowing in NE Atlanta a few minutes ago!!!

I was supposed to be doing our Erskine Offroad trip this weekend. But 2 J**ps are questionable for the trip. Cant complain about though b/c I was working on mine last year until the last second. Looks like our dates are changed. :( Weather looks decent up there for this weekend, but I am sure parts will be icy considering the temps through today and tonight.

Wednesday Night: Periods of snow, mainly after 1am. Low around 25. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Thursday: Periods of snow before 10am, then periods of rain. High near 38. South wind between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of rain before 10pm, then a slight chance of freezing rain between 10pm and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

If I wasn't hosting a ski weekend at my folks place I'd be there............. either way I am only about 30 mins away in Maggie Valley, might be up for coming to vist yall out on the balds if you go.

I think it's gonna happen. Even if it's raining in Cullowhee, the trails should get some snow w/ the higher elevations. The only concern I have is ice as apposed to snow. There's a huge difference b/t the two as far as driving and the damage-possibility-factor increases significantly! If we don't go, then I'm hoping Pisgah gets it and I'm goin hiking; maybe camping.

they are supposed to get 2-4" of snow before it turns over to sleet, freezing, and just plain rain later in the day thrusday........... regardless come Sat. night and Sun it is going to be seriously cold up there temps should dip below zero on the peaks above 5K

So bundle up

Forcast is getting better and better.

I will be unable to make it if JP and I decide to sound the snow alarm. We need a Cullowhee vetran to come forth and take the lead.

I think tomorrow night we should have a better understanding of what we can expect up there. If it looks good I will e-mail the vetran the SNow list and to start making calls and getting organized.

I'm leaving to go to Atlanta and will have limited access to mud until Sunday. Stay tuned and be ready to load up your vehicle. Calling for 1-3 inches. If we can get a good chance of 3" or more I think this will work. Assuming there will be that much Sat. You just might get a MLK run after all.

Stay tuned.

I cant do it this weekend. Have to go vote, if it doesnt go down this weekend, then keep me on the list.

sounds like we might have a snow run here in clemson:eek:; they are saying maybe a quick 1"-2" of snow before it turns over to sleet and freezing rain, then just plain rain......... I am not holding my breath but I am hoping for atleast a delayed start to classes as I really hate my 8am physics :D

Does anyone know what everyone is planning to do for communication? At PPR, we just stuck w/ FRS, so I wasn't sure if I should take FRS or just stick w/ CB???

Karl I'd go with both............ but at the moment I think unfortunately you are the only one that can make it. I really wish I could, I want to wheel in the snow so bad!!!!

good news is they are now saying posibble 3"-5" in here in clemson tonight; I sure hope they are right about that it would be sweet

What do you mean I'm the only one that can go? Has the emailing or phone tree started already and no one's available? Don't tell me that I, "the Jeep Guy" am the only one not bailing now that the time has finally come after all the talk and hype. Wow, I guess it'll just be Allie and me camping this wkend.

I'm out of town this weekend. Keep me on the phone tree for next time.

Karl didn't mean to sound overly pesimistic, but although we haven't started the phone tree most of the members on the tree frequent here so I would have thought they would have posted up already if they could make it. I will get in touch with Marshall tonight and see if we can't get things going. Also I think we were going to wait and see if this pans out; last time they called for a good snow up there a few weeks back it was a bust..... we should know more by tomorrow morning if they got the 3-6 forecast; in the mean time hope for snow here in clemson!!!

so there is still hope

I think a good many of us posting we are out are on that list. Check with Marshall and see. Wish I could but I just have too much stuff to get done and I had to work all last weekend.

Yeah, no worries. It'll happen when it happens. I'm still going to go play in the mountains this weekend anyway one way or another. I planned on waiting til tomorrow to make plans anyway. Have a good one everyone and good luck. Be safe, whatever you do.

If there's a good snow up there I'm on.
This one looked too piddling to amount to much, plus too far from the weekend to stay. But if it does, and there's company, I'm in.

Good deal Bill! PM me w/ your number if you don't mind and if there's any accumulation, we'll plan it out. 7:00 here in Clemson and we're getting it, but who knows if it'll amount to much. I know it's still early. I guess I'm just trying to stay really optimistic about this one. I've been waiting long enough; I'm ready.
