Hey fellow mudders!!

Saw an email blast from CruiserCorp a few weeks ago " OEM Dash Pads are Back in Stock! "
CruiserCorp

Kinda couldn't believe they found some OEM dash pads somewhere...suspicious enough that I emailed them "are you sure - I can't believe it?"

CruiserCorp assured me - OEM - not refurbed.

Just got home from a 2 week roadtrip - excited to open the box on a new OEM brown dash cap - only to find this thing has clearly been painted with SEM Cordovan brown.

Anyone else have any insights / is CruiserCorp scamming people? For $800 - I feel scammed and plan to start a return with them.

If it’s any solace, you’re not the first person to be unhappy shopping there

Thanks folks!!

I double / triple checked. This thing was sold as new OEM but was clearly just sprayed. I’m kicking off a return.

The last thing I bought from them was a new turn signal / combo switch. I had Landcruiser NW install it while it was there for some other work - and they ended up removing it - cuz it kept popping fuses. Cruisercorp sold me some garbage.

Now this “new” dash pad. Last time I send them any money. Lesson learned.

Hard to say what the original color is for the dash cap. To be fair - It is nicely painted - but selling it as OEM new for $800 - it’s not what they advertised.

I can paint a used one myself!!

The evidence of having been sprayed brown is that the entire underside is covered in brown overspray. And opening the box I got a good hit of “fresh spray paint smell” upon opening it.

I even specifically asked them “is this new - not refurbed”

Just something to think about. If it is a "New" dash that's just been repainted you might want to keep it. I just paid $1600.00 from "Just Dashes" and guess what? Its painted. Just my thoughts.

yeah - I've thought of that as well. I'm kinda miffed at cruisercorp because I didnt quite believe it that they just "found some OEM brown dashpads laying around" and so I asked them specifically - are these new oem / not refurbed that their answer was yes/new. They just didn't mention that they sprayed them brown SEM Cordova brown.

so - I'll send it back and get my $800 back and find one for a lot less money and spray it myself...or find a classic car dash pad restorer closer to my address and have my one dash pad fixed - then spray it.

That is ultra lame. I haven't seen an OEM new brown dash pad in 10 years of casually looking, so the likelihood of them having one is about zero. Turns out, it's less than zero.
