Here is some advice:

For most scams involving goods and services (nonexistent vacation properties, for example, or a fake employment agency), try your state attorney general's office, your local and state consumer protection agencies (go to usa.gov and search for state consumer protection offices), the Better Business Bureau, or, depending on the crime, the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center, known as IC3.

Quick update... I called the beneficiary's bank this morning to report scamming activity. They were able to put in a complaint. About 4 hours later, I got an angry call/tirade from the dealer saying that I got his $1M account locked and he has no means to pay for his cars. He was furious with profane language and made threats. So either my complaint worked and/or other people also reported him. The recipient bank contacted my bank account asking for a harmless hold letter. Considering that and how the account got locked (I only know because he called me), fingers crossed to recouping some money.

I never confronted the dealer about him being a scammer. I've been playing dumb. Last night, I called my lender to cancel the loan. This morning, the dealer called me all angry asking why I cancelled the loan. He also never sent a picture of the car on the delivery vehicle like I requested. He must have called my lender inquiring about the status so he can know when to expect that check? At this point, he said the deal is off and he'd be returning my down payment (to my surprise). He made a comment about how he paid out of his pocket to pay for the car registration so he needs to get the refund from the DMV before he makes the refund. He told me he'd be at the DMV at 1PM. I called him around 1:30PM and he says he's at an auction and it's central time where he's at so I was calling early. Danville, IN is eastern time zone.. weird. Anyhow, an hour later, he called me with his tirade and blocked my number. I noticed the website was taken down sometime this afternoon.

Did he sound like a native English speaker? Just curious. These folks are usually from India with a strong accent. Again, sorry op. I hate a scammer.

And he never took the truck off the site. I checked and it was still listed for sale earlier today.

I don't think the dealership in Danville has anything to do with this, and also that the website you visited has nothing to do with the dealership either: Here's the phone number for actual dealership in Danville:: 317-563-3030. I'm guessing if you call you won't get the person you've been talking to, and that they'll honestly have no knowledge of your situation.

It might be worth while to call the dealership and let them know they are an innocent victim.

Facebook page says it all, business was officially closed over 7 months ago.
The main number 317 563 3030 is now registered to someone living in Avon, IN, one small town over from Danville.

Website says the car is still available. Op, you get any relief on this? Was kicking around calling the guy and seeing what he says just to f with him.

I just called Chad. Phone rang 7 times and then went to VM. Vm said “this is Chad with affordable car sales, please me a message and we will call you back”. If this is a scam, it’s still ongoing.

Wow, I can't believe it's back up. Completely new website design. Still using the old address. Someone else should inquire about the car

There's a chance he returns the missed call.
