Heart breaking. I would be gutted as I looked for another one and only feel better after spending way more then I should on a my next one.
Yeah, I am Very distraught over this. I’m hoping I can get it fixed. It’s my baby

The steering knuckle/control arm is beefy as hell, it must've taken a tremendous amount to force to have the wheels like that. What happened to the car you hit?

It's not that beefy. One lower ball joint pops out and poof

LBJ has to pop off, the tie rod has to break, and the axle has to get pulled out of its hub to have the wheel sit like that. Yeah it's a lot of force bro

Google 3rd gen 4Runner 1st gen Tacoma lower ball joint failure. Not much force is required for all of those things to happen. Granted, the 100’s suspension design is better and beefier than those vehicles, but all it takes is for the LBJ to pop out and the rest is automatically toast without much force at all. LBJ pops, then ball pops out of tie rod end, then axle rips out of differential (or cv joint breaks).

The axle can pull out of the diff without much force. Tie rod may still be connected

Yeah, and the 100 series IFS isn't the pinnacle of strength to begin with.

Okay fine, i still wanna see what he hit though to get it like that.

My guess would be the 18-wheeler sent him into the guardrail and the wheel caught one of those vertical posts that goes into the ground that the guardrail is bolted to. Pulled the front part of the tire out and "peeling" it backwards as the truck skidded forward.

Glad to hear you're okay OP, the truck is always replaceable!

Lot of damage.
Might exceed the cost of a replacement.
Hang in tough with the Insurance Company.
Your neck might be feeling a little sore - don't know if this works with the Adjustor person.

Car-part.com for fender and door in matching color, and can probably get lca, steering knuckle from there too.
steering rack may be toast though. I would think totally rebuildable if no frame damage.

I’ve had an LBJ failure before that resulted in this exact situation, doesn’t take much force to pop the axle out and bend the tie rod. Glad you’re okay, cruiser is always replaceable.

3rd gen 4runner and 1st gen taco has a different setup. Google it. The lower control arm hangs on the ball jointt while other models have the control arm resting above the ball joint and WON'T fail like the 3rd gen 4runner.
