I'm curious on what other items might be needed by the FJ60 community.

I was thinking about making optimized cross bars for FJ60's who use roof top tents. I think its a little silly that I have to use my 100lb roof rack to mount my 130lb roof top tent. The goal would be to make the cross bars as light as possible as well as low as possible. Most full roof racks have an unnecessary number of crossbars that are completely useless to holding up the weight of a roof top tent are are simply just added weight. The problem with Yakima crossbars and the like are that they mount too high up compared to full rack systems which are too heavy. Low and light would be the name of the game. Anyway I have more features I would include in the cross bar system. Its really something I want and am going to make for myself because I can but I'm curious if anyone else would like such a system in an already diluted market.
No unnecessary weight, low as possible, light as possible.
Interested! I’m using Yakima 1A towers and round crossbars currently. I do have an awning and don’t have a RTT but I’d like a minimal solution that sits nice and low.

Trying out my "new" 3D scanner. Does not work well at all for small parts, AT ALL. Kinda disappointing, but expected. I can use this scanner to model and scale new bracket locations on my computer. There's like no support for the scanner that I bought online, so im stuck using Microsoft developer demo programs lol. Pretty cool I guess

So when are the FJ60 solutions replacement grilles coming out?

If he does those, I'd be hard pressed to make up my mind between a good reproduction and the @kelly saad steel grilles.

@dbbowen Probably not anytime in the near future as grilles are still relatively available online. This scanner does not have the quality requried to just rescan and 3D print something. I have to scan something, Use the 3D scan as a reference and reconstruct whatever it is I would want to make.

What im using is literally just an X-Box one kinect

Here's a perfect example of what a 3D scanner is good for. On one project i'm exploring in, we can see how far off my initial measurements for a roof gutter bracket were from my scan. This 3D scan of the FJ60 roof corner allows me to build a gutter bracket that compliments the curvature of the FJ60's roof. Its not a perfect scan but it definitely gets the point across during the design phase.

I'm jumping all over projects right now, I started to make an FJ62 Bezel but the one I have is too cracked for me to really reconstruct it any further. this project is gonna be on pause until I find a better sample bezel to reconstruct off of. On my reference piece the top rim is cracked out everywhere a screw goes, and the ash tray area is completely gone.

I’d offer mine but it’s pretty cracked.

I’ll definitely buy one of your repros once you reach that phase.

I'd offer up mine, which has repaired cracks but is intact, but my 62 is my DD and I have all the switches and extra stuff mounted on the bezel. Wish you were closer so I could just bring it to you for a couple days....

Mine has some cracks, but let me check and see if it's at least intact enough to get the model. I'm in Arlington, so I could potentially drop it off to you.

My plastic supplier added new colors of ASA, which is the only material I use as of now because of its high UV and temperature resistance.
If there's a large enough demand for a different color to be added I may add it to my line up.

Most parts are best in the black plastic, I know of some that would look nice with the #3 Gray.
