The Capitol Land Cruiser Club are planning a trip to Moab
Cruise Moab 2016 official new thread

I'm in, as well as @shmukster

Any Keystone Cruisers interested? We could make it a co-club event...

Cruise Moab - Toyota 4x4 event in Moab, UT

Ben @fireball and I were out there last Spring, and it's definitely a trip worth making.

Here are a few pics from our trip...just to tease you!

I would love to do this and have wanted to for YEARS! How much would shipping trucks cost if we all went together to hire a truck?

I would even love to go as a passenger if anyone has an open seat.

Read through the thread, no confirmed price for shipping rigs yet, but I figure about $1800 round trip.

If you just want go as a passenger, I'm sure there will be plenty of room to ride along. You're more than welcome to ride with me until we get annoyed with each other :p

Are you guys planning on shipping the truck out and driving home, or driving out and back? Shipping would be more appealing to me due to time time vacation timg required to drive both ways.

I am shipping both ways.

It's a looong drive :steer::steer::steer::steer:

thats not a bad idea...how long are you planning on going for?

For the whole event at a minimum. Gary, @shmukster mentioned a possible post-Moab trip to the san Juans in SW Colorado to do a little wheeling around the Ouray/Silverton/Telluride area...

I'm figuring $1500-$1800 to ship my 40 both ways. Not sure if the Capital City group has one truck or two in mind to haul all the cruisers to/from Moab. I'm gonna camp, Greg reserved a number of sites and Bob Bascom is sharing one site with me. Andy if you go out without your cruiser and can't find a seat you can drive my 40 and I'll find a seat! Frankly, I don't think anyone will find it impossible to get a seat. I'm looking at flying out on Sunday and flying home the following Tuesday (9 days total). Looks liek I'll be flying from Allentown to Denver and renting a car for the trip in Denver and driving across the state to Moab. it's a nice 6 hour or so drive from Denver out interstate 70 through Eisenhower tunnel- unless it's snowing! Looks like with having a 9 day trip I'll not be doing much more than driving through the San Juans on my way back to denver. I spent a week last September wheeling in CO and plan to do it again this fall.

Would love to go but the timing just doesn't work. I would love to get a small group of us to go out together at another time. I'll be interested to see what the final round trip transport charges are.

I'd be in for this as well, especially if we could make it a family thing.

I totally am interested, but I'm going to do 100's in the hills this year with my brother in law. I looked into shipping my rig, cheapest I could find was about $1800 round trip from Nazareth to Denver (where my sister and brother in law live). Then I have to fly, and it's just not worth it. I'm probably going to suck it up and drive.

Like Ben said, maybe do this trip in 2017?

I'm shippingn the 40 out. Gonna leave the hard top on it and stash all our camping stuff into it when we load onto the transport truck in Virginia. Hopefully ben will be building and installing my storage box in february so all my normal gear will be inside that. Will leave a lot of cram room in the 40 between the rear cargo area and the passenger seat! Other than getting the storage box done I am just gonna go over everything carefully before the trip.

Next year how about a trip through Colorado? I wheeled CO for 28 years in a row starting way back in 1984. Got my first exposure to 4WD Toyotas with friends from illinois, Tom had a 87 4Runner with the turbo 22RTE and auto trans, locked and lifted, and Steve had a fairly stock V6 pickup. Did a lot of the trails over the years, Stony, Engineer, Cinnamon, Black Bear, Ophir, Corkscrew, Poughkeepsie, Hurricane, Imogene in the San Juans and all the good ones in Gunnison County- Pearl, Taylor, Italian, etc. It's a great state to drive offroad in, the trails aren't that tough as much as they can be scary. Lotsa shelf roads, in fact highways 550 between Ouray and Silverton and Durango and 92 between Leadville (Granite) and Aspen can be scary for many folks. I'd love to drive my 80 out there next year (dual gas tanks!) and could show anyone a lot of great trails and camping spots.

Maybe this isn't news to you but great Great Sand Dune Nat'l Park has some beautiful primitive campsites with 4WD access, nestled in the heart of the San Juans.
