IMPORTANT: Remember to take a lightweight hat that keeps the sun off your ears and the back of your neck. That was one of my first purchases in Moab after the first day on the trail. The sun can be intense out there without the protective layer of smog we are used to back East. Also, take your Burt's Bees or Suzie Chapstick or whatever. And stay hydrated (take a couple of water bottles), you don't realize how dry it is out there until your lips are like lizard skin and you start feeling bad. A few swigs of cold water can be as refreshing as a cold beer after mowing your yard in July (sacrilege, I know).

Have fun y'all!

I matched Bart's trail requests. Since he requested before me and I got my first choices, I will bet he has my exact matching picks which should be available for someone to switch too.

No one knows????
When is everyone's flights landing and taking off to return home. Me and Steve can pick some of you up but can't guarantee a time.

What, you want to plan things? This group doesn't work that way.

Jeff and I get in to DEN at 10:29 AM on May 2 and Jeff's friend gets in about the same time. We depart DEN at 8:11 AM on May 9 but Jeff and I will be staying in a hotel near the airport the night of the 8th so we can get dropped off any time on the 8th. If Chris and Steve can pick us up and drop us off at the airport, Jeff and I can drive the Denver to Moab leg.

I'm planning to meet Chris in Herndon some time on Thursday the 28th to load my crap in Jeff's Taco.

Matt is considering taking Jeff up on his generous offer to fly but hasn't made a decision yet. The drugs will hopefully kick in soon and Matt will show improvement.

Trust me I'm doing as little planning as possible!!
I don't think we will hid Denver until 1:00-2:00. Depending on how the trip go's.

Sounds like you need to leave earlier and/or drive faster.

Yes I agree with Bob. Step on it! If you are close to midday I'm sure we can entertain ourselves and wait a bit. Just pick us up at the nearest Marijuana dispensary along I-70.

Stump's flapper has been tighter than a duck's ass about his plans. My money is on that he is bailing and doesn't want to confess. 20 years of institutional military has taught him well to never give up bad news at a press conference. You are always winning the war until the day you surrender.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I'm jealous! Can't wait to see some great photos and hear the stories around the campfire at coal mine

I have a question for the guys that are coming out to catch a ride in the trail. When I registered I had to pay a BLM fee for how many people I had in the truck. Have any of you guys talk to anyone about hoping in a truck ? It was not a big fee I'm not sure about adding more people. Don't know how strict they are about the rules

I too added some $$$ to my application to cover Bob who is riding with me. I have no idea how they manage additional passengers but I am sure it will work out.

Bart paid for a total of 4 people so we may be able to leverage what Bart paid and reimburse him instead of paying BLM again.

Slick Rock Campground does NOT allow fires. This blows!

I bought one of these for our trip out West last year, never used it because everywhere we went there were no fire bans.

I'll bring it with me...it's always nicer sitting around flames of any sort.

I do NOT have a propane tank for it, so if anyone can bring 20 pounder, that would be great!

can.webp

Can I put a 20 pounder in my carry-on? Glad to hear you will be making it to Moab.

I'll see if I can fit one.

So if they don't allow campfires I suppose they will be a little upset if we blast Mickey bombs on that gas toaster of Will Ferrill's. Then after we do that we keep the campground up til 2am with a loud stump game. Let's enjoy this trip fellas because they will never invite us back.

I have done nothing to register my buddy who is coming. Hopefully the Bart ticket will keep us clear with the management. At least until we get tossed for other reasons.

Didn't have to register individuals , just had to say how many people in your truck. I doubt it will be a problem. I was thinking ahead. Would hate to have someone come out and not get in the trail !!
