Kind of off subject but i have had my skid off for so long, i went to put it back on and could not for the life of me figure out how it goes back on!! That's terrible!

Just stumbled upon this thread. Was wondering how to fix this leak. Thanks @landtank for the write-up. I was able to purchase the o-rings at a local LOWES store for under $2. ;)

Did you guys use thread locker when reinstalling the sensor?

Reviving an old thread, but what are the torque specs for the sensor nuts and the bolts holding the protective plate?

I'm about to knock this out. Torque values pictured in case anyone else needs them.

I've stared at that thing a few times myself before finally figuring it out.
I’ve had that off a few times, but it’s always a bit of a head scratcher at first figuring out how to get it back in there...

Anyway, in addition to this little leak, what is that big plug on the passenger side, and what is the seal for that? And what size hex wrench loosens it? And do I need to drain the oil to fix it?

I think it has to do with machining the pan for an oil pickup passage way
from memory 10mm allen wrench
90430-27005 plug gasket

Well I tried the two-oring fix for the sensor seal but it turns out that the whole plastic housing is falling apart. POOP.

Oh well...

Reviving an old thread here. I used this solution about 1 year and 5,000 miles ago. Mine is leaking again. I'd have to do dig up the package of the o-rings, but IIRC I bought the exact ones. Anyone else still develop a leak after the double o-ring solution? I have a brand new motor and everything is spick and span down below other than this new leak :censor:

Anyone have the part number handy for the new sensor?

The truck the I did this to is still in service and owned by a friend. I’m not aware of any issues

Yeah it's kinda strange. I'm 99.9% sure I bought the exact ones you suggested. It also doesn't require much torque, so I don't think it's loose.

Thank you for your help!

Well, what do you know! I just pulled out my crank sensor because I am replacing the crank oil seal as well as the oil pump o ring.
so I pull out this thing and started looking for what it was. Turns out it is the crank sensor. I didn't know that 1/2 an hour ago!
my issue is that the wire going to it has a screening braid, which is missing for at least two inches from the sensor.
Can anyone tell me if this screen does its job just by being there? or does it have to go all the way into the sensor?
But fancy that, a thread that is an old one, but NorCaljFJ100 posted only yesterday.
And I just just joined the site

My sensor mounting flange and wiring were brittle and cracked, so I decided to replace. The OEM unit is around $115. I was pleasantly surprised that the NAPA Echlin part was actually a repackaged Denso part. $90 list, but NAPA often has promos and always has 10% discount for AAA or military/veterans. $78 out the door.

did the napa part come with an o-ring?

I don't recall. It looks like the Napa part is now over $200, so this may no longer be cheaper than OEM.

I have a had great success with o ring and Toyota FIPG and had zero leaks. Don’t over tighten or you will crack the plastic flanges.
