@roadstr6 i was just going to post that. I have not done it. But I am going to pull my Dist. And do this and my Corolla vac advance swap.
If You have an early dizzy, it is already good to go (advance curve I’d gtg) for non emissions trucks... it is the 1980 and later dizzies that require recurves.

That is a very good price. These no-name brand RTTs are all made out of China so you're rolling the dice a little on quality.

Local guy selling RTT

I don’t want to spend that much for a RTT, (might just be me). I know they are expensive but would rather take my chance on the cheaper one from TSC. I don’t mind doing small ‘mods’ to make a lesser product better if I need to.

Thanks

Friend of mine is the local guy, I pulled the trigger on it. Will update my build thread with some thoughts on it. I'm the opposite, would rather buy once, cry once on most things in my life. That isn't enough of a price difference to justify dealing with a s***ty product. Be a different thing if the TSC one was under 1k...

Let us know, intrested on how Byron's RTT turns out. Not ready to purchase as I'm still baselining my rig and need to save some dough. Link to the build thread?

Let us Know how it goes... The TSC has more Spec details on their website than your friend has on his so Just by looking at both websites, they look to be about the same quality. Of course this is just looking at the pics online not in person. I do like the low profile of the Black Diamond better but I can use the Extra $900 for other things. I’ve bought expensive things before and cried because I couldn’t resell it later for the expensive price.

I understand, if you decide to go with it let us know how it works out. Cost is a big factor for me too but I learned to cry once on my rig. Felt like I cried several times already 😄😄

Yeah, I understand. I bought the CVT softshell and actually MADE money selling it after using it this past summer. CVT is a premium established brand so it worked in my favor. While I love my friend, he's a newcomer to the game so it remains to be seen how it all develops as far as his "brand" is concerned in the wider market. From what I've seen so far the quality should definitely be there, just have to see how it holds up for my needs in practice and how well it stacks up against offerings like the TSC.

s***, then there's the whole thing of just throwing my Marmot tent on the ground and not worrying about it...got kind of use to that the last couple of trips, but remembered all the good times of sleeping in the sky so idk...we shall see. Annoying picking it up heading into winter. Will have to see if I can get in some winter trips and test that insulation!

Is there a write up for the Corolla vac advance swap?

None that I can find. I’m going to wing it. But after readingI think this is definitely a problem I have. And need to sort it out when I go EFI.
I was reading about a Ford vac advance but the curve was wrong came on to quick. May try that and put a heavier spring in it. It’s only $12 compared to $50.

I’ll let you know what I have found.

I may have a decent vac advance floating around.
