My Cooper STT experience:
General road handling is good, not too noisy, well behaved. Tread wear about average for a mud tire.
On the trail they work well, but if you play in the rocks, they tend to litter the trail with lugs.
IMHO they don't age well, as they get older they get harder faster than most and chunk more than average.
If I had the chance, would trade them for Terra Grapplers in a flash. I'm holding out, hoping the new Trail Grapplers will come out in 37x12.5.

Got the tires Friday, Maybe my imagination, but I feel a little more pep not having the extra 12 lbs per tire to turn.
They seemed about the same noise wise on the road.
Did fine on the highway at high speed
Was surprised when I took off the Toyo's how much tread was left. Could have gone another year. But now I have Nice heavy Toyos on my AT Horizon Trailer. I think the heavier tire will be good there in off camber situations.
I still would recommend the Toyo's Hopefully,. I will feel the same way about the coopers. So far so good

Good to see you are liking the STT's. The Toyos are really wide tires, where the tread width of the STT is quite a bit narrower. I imagine you can feel this more than the weight difference (width should have a greater rolling resistance impact than weight).
My 37" trxus weight slightly more than the Toyos and have a much skinnier tread contact (not much more than 9") and they feel peppier than the 315 Toyos did. Of course, that is with my ass dragging NA engine, so I'd probably feel it if you helped give me a shove off the block

I finally went back to an AT after running the Coopers for 3 years. They were great off road, except for the major chunking they would do in the rocks. If I had a trail only vehicle I would stay with them, but I DD my rig and I find myself less interested in crawling and more interested in just simple exploration. An AT better suits my needs.
I went to Yokohama Geolander AT/S. I had Yoke's before and liked them and they were $50 per tire less than BFG AT with my friend at Discount.

50k on my Toyos and still have another 10k to go. 5 tire rotation every 5-7500 miles.

Quiet is subjective
My BFG ATs were queit I thought. Not much louder than the stock tires
My daughter had Goodyear MTRs for a bit and they were real loud, and I guess I gauge any MT tire by that.
The Toyo's were louder than the MT's, but much less than the MTRs. With the stock tiresat a 0 and the MTRs at 100, I would put the ATs at 10 and the Toyos at about 35-40 With just a couple of days the Coopers seem to be about the same as the Toyos, but I havent driven around with the window open either.

Both tires are great. The Toyos are definitly a much heavier tire.
I have a only a few thousand miles on them so can't comment on wear
ICE - they were ok. Hard to really define the differences as driving on ice was a year apart. It felt like the Toyo's were a bit better, but they could have been the same and just different "slickness" of the ice. I did get both tires siped. I never lost control with either tire, but then I downshift to start braking on ice (Unlike most of the yahoos on the road). Both performed well for a Mud tire. I think AT's area better on Ice.
Snow - I had driven the Toyo's through about 2 feet of snow with no issues. I only had an opportunity for about 6 inches on the coopers so far. Both performed well, tie so far.
I have driven at speeds of 80-85 with both and no issues with either. You can start to hear and feel them a bit more over 80. The Toyos brand new probably had a slight edge here in noise and feel. But its so close it could be a tie.
My overall impression is both tires are great. The Toyo's have a small edge, but they are much heavier and that has its own costs.
The Coopers were cheaper by $40 a tire for me so that makes it a no brainer to go with the Coopers. If they were the same price, I might go with the Toyo's

So it might not be fair, but I'm gonna throw a wrench in the works and ask how the Coopers and Toyo's compare to the KM 2's. These are the three tires I am looking into, and whenever I ask anyone around here they all seem to praise the KM 2's. Any thoughts?
Outside of your unusual winter, NOVA doesn't get much snow and neither the Toyo nor the STT are really mud tires - both are more of a rock tire, as in dry rock tire.
Between the 3, KM2's would be a no brainer, but if I was buying a tire for southeastern wheeling I'd have some Interco options on my list.
I run the 35" Toyo AT's on both cruisers. The use of Toyo 35" Tires on the original truck was based on a recommendation from a very knowledgeable Cruiser Head. After running them on one truck, I was sold. They have never failed me off road and they are quiet and handle well on road. Balance well too.
Love the 35" Toyo Tires. I have also been told by people in the car business that Toyo makes a very high quality tire.
However, I don't know anything about the Coopers.
The Toyo Tires ride extremely well on both an 8,000lbs and a 6,800lb cruiser. I do not really notice the tire weight in every day driving.

Just back from a trip to Moab.
The tread pattern between the two is the same. I am guessing the material of the Toyo is softer based on my observations
On the Toyo's, I could drive 85-90 before I could really feel and hear the MT lugs on the Tires. With the Coopers, it was 75-80mph when I started hearing and feeling the lugs.
They wheeled fine, but on two obstacles on Kane Creek, my back end slid when I was going up a difficult spot (1st obstacle on Shelf road). That could have been due to other factors like temperature, my line or the way I was driving so not sure if this is a real factor. The one thing that makes me think the tires could be a contribution is if the Coopers have harder material, they would not likely grip as well. I was also behind another 80 with the Toyo's that had no issues, but again that could have been the loose nut behind the wheel.
I thought the Coopers wheeled fine other than that. The Coopers are a great tire, but after having driven both, I would go with the Toyo's. Don't think you can go wrong with the Coopers, just my preference is the Toyo's

The other caveat I should mention is the sand was moist and the tire was fairly packed, so not exactly the same condition as before.
So the one thing I can state for certain is the road noise and feel in the cab at a lower speed.

i have crabbed sideways on the kane creek waterfall with bfg ats. just couldn't get grip on the step.

This is a great thread for someone new to MTs. I have been driving BFG ATs for years and I am looking for a more aggressive tire. After reading this and other threads, I am going with the Toyo tires. Tires are like shoes. You should pick the best quality one you can find and everything I have heard and read tells me that Toyos are the best all around off-road MTs you can buy.
