Coolant Pipe/Hose routing (1 Viewer)

So, I parked at work today, and heard a hissing sound. Looked underneath, and saw coolant leaking onto the ground.

Turns out, this coolant hose was rubbing against the a/c belt, and it rubbed a pin-hole into the coolant hose. Under pressure, it obviously leaks.

I'm 150 miles from home. 2 questions:

1. Temporary fix to seal this hose up, until it can be replaced?


2. How is this supposed to be routed, because it's obviously incorrect. There are brackets, looking like it should be attached to an item, but I cannot figure out, for the life of me, where it should be connected.

Yep. Someone did some work on the side of your 2F and did not reattach the two cooling lines. They support the heater and oil cooler. The bolts look to still be in your valve cover.

Yes, the oil cooler is missing hoses and pipe, as you can see in the picture. They apparently just by-passed it. Those are on my "to-do" list.

Now, I need to figure out how to temporarily fix the leaking coolant hose (JB Weld Silicone?) and find a way to rig something up to keep the belt from wearing through the hose again... so I may limp it home.

Looks like you may also be missing the lower oil cooler pipe that runs around the timing cover.

Would be VERY interested in a picture of how they dealt with the lower water pump port with the Oil Cooler disconnected. I'm in process of trying to puzzle out how to rid myself of a real PITA that is the small 3" line from the bottom port to the coolant hard line that routes underneath the A/C bracket (the same 16777b referenced above). Since this was yesterday I hope you made it home ok, my thought for a roadside would be to disconnected the A/C belt temporarily, then you could tape up the radiator hose till you get home. Gorilla tape and zip tipes, or the self adhesive silicon "emergency" tape that you can get at auto supply places.

That’s exactly what I did. I used silicone emergency tape on the hose and zip-tied it out of the way. It seemed to do well on my 1 hour drive. It has to hold up for a week of commuting before I can properly “fix” everything.
