Does anyone have a diagram of all the coolant/heater/oil cooler hoses for a 1974 fj? I want to make sure it’s all hooked back properly.
Thank you in advance

FJ55? It always helps to give us some information. FJ to us is an FJ Cruiser.

There is no engine oil cooler listed for a US 1974 FJ55 in the parts diagrams. Here is one from the 1977 diagrams:

There were no oil coolers on NA F series engines prior to 1980.

The only coolant lines on a 1974 model F engine are for the heater. Out of the engine at the back of the head, into the engine at the water pump.

FWIW, the above comment about how "we" consider FJ to mean FJ Cruiser.... Nope. FJ Cruisers are ugly 4Runners and I don't ever think about them when discussing land Cruisers. :)

"FJ" was the prefix for the model designator for a gasoline 6cylinder powered Land Cruiser prior to the 1993 model.
"BJ"was the prefix for the diesel powered (4 or 6 cylinder) Land Cruisers during that time period

Referring to any Land Cruiser as an "FJ" marks you as a kid or a jeep guy. :grinpimp:

lol. I am neither a kid nor a jeep guy but I can understand the sentiment… I have owned the fj 40 for 25 years and am just now building it. It’s weird that the 1974 fj55 did not come with an oil
Cooler as mine certainly has one. The rest of the truck was completely original prior to totaling.
What do I have to do now to lose the stigma as an outsider and untarnished my name? 😎 or is it even possible? 🤓

Then what do you call this? From 1977.

No stigma associated to you.
Pretty ironic that some old codger that very rarely ever comes down here or participates in any of the ongoing threads, wants to chime in on a new thread from a new guy, give wrong information, and then proceed to chastise while simultaneously bearing a sig that basically reads, IDGAF. Funny!

FWIW, my best guess is that the oil coolers on a '77, for example, were "California Spec", based on the parts diagrams that I'm looking at. Also pretty certain there were no oil coolers on '74 NA FJ55s. My '77 FJ55 does not have an oil cooler.

California is in North America, correct?
lol Yes, of course. I was agreeing with you but also surmising that, at least in '77, they came in two flavors in North America: with and without.

Yep. That is correct. I completely forgot about the CA spec differences.

Do you recall if it was a Late F engine, or an earlier F engine (with the oil filter on the intake manifold?)
