There is going to be a nasty nickname for that truck with the flesh color isn't there?

Certainly nothing you could put on a personalized license plate!

I worked with a guy that hot rodded an early 80's Buick of some sort, can't remember what it was, but it was a nice car... painted some shade of pink he called "Donkey D*nk Pink". :)

This is a link about megasquirt on my z car forum. 7m Supra guys use it too so I would try to cross the 1fz an 7m's and try to get a start on my homework from there. MegaSquirt Overview for Newbies - HybridZ

Got ya...it's stand-alone engine management like Apex's stuff. Cool, it would be nice to dump the distributor...but would the Supra coil packs be a better fit?

Tuning is a bitch though no matter what, I would not want to deal with that PITA.

Orange is my favorite color and I always wondered what an 80 would look like in orange.....Interested to see how it is all finished off. But I'm with walking eagle....I think I liked the "wet" darker orange better. But we'll see. Great work so far though! Rust sucks.

Check out MetalTechs's :)

I'm not sure on how the Supra coil system works so I couldn't say for sure. The Ford coil system is so simple and came on just about every 6cyl car they had so getting what you need is plentiful and cheap, real cheap. I'm just getting to know the toyota engine but from what I can tell it seems to be built like a rock. So I'm game to mess around with it a little to start with. I'm a sucker for inline 6's. But anyways after reading as much I could on diesel's here in the posts I think I'm gonna pass for now and stick with the 1fz and see if I can't tune and dial it in. I think alot is possible its just gonna take some thought and trial and error.

All this stand alone engine management stuff is interesting, but I really want to see what "The Flesh Box" looks like with the tape off.

Well I got most of it painted and as it goes for me, I rubbed through on one of the qtrs and the tape made for fresh paint didnt work and some of the black paint came off with the tape. So im gonna hit the doors & qtr along with everything else one more time in paint after I get the doors and fenders on. I bombed the flair and cap to get an idea of what it'll look like. Far cry from cool vanilla.

That looks a lot closer to the wet photo than the dry one - more salmon than fleshy. I like it.

Wow. Very cool.

I was moving along wet sanding and getting the doors and tail gate on and was waiting to do the drivers side door to last because I had a dime spot hole in the floor board. Well we all know what that hole turns into. I thought i would just fill it with weld until I got out a body hammer and started tapping around a bit. heres some more pics. Its getting there, just real slow. heres the floor. Almost flinstone style. Sorry about the crap resolution. Until I can find a cr1220 batt for my camera its the cell phone for pics.

Here in ohio were getting down to 30 degree's when the sun goes down and I almost ran out of wood for heat but thank you craigslist I found some guys who sold me a cord of pine for $70 inc. delv. I wouldnt burn it in a house due to build up and fire hazards but in the garage it rocks. Burns hot and fast. Good for me. This should get me through most of the winter I hope.

showed this to some co-workers, they think it looks like the adobe car.

The gift that keeps on giving. Spent the last 2 days on the phone and net and only found one within a days drive and is in Ann Arbor 35 min from my house and they dont know for sure if the even have a land cruiser in their scrap yard. Freaking headache. So I'm preparing to suck it up and fix the old one. Not what I really want to do but out of options. I might build a ladder I can weld right on it. Brace it up real good but be mindful of the weight. The whole wiper get up has to go. The bolt or screw or whatever held the arm on was melted into one. Zapped it with a cutoff. For what that weighed I can build a ladder that will weight around the same plus a littleish. Taking the night off cause I'm a little burnt out from working on it every spare min I have so I'm gonna browse around for some cool ladder set ups. I want to build a basket or flat rack for it as well but have to figure some mounting system up. I wish I had the cash to drop on a nice setup but since I don't, I'll do it the old fashion way with a welder and steel. The rack and rear bumper will be the fun stuff I get to build once its in paint and done. This hatch and the other little fixes are the thing thats eating my time and wearing me out. I could tell their was bondo in the hatch but had no idea it was this bad.

lots of work and hopefully it will be worth it when you're done!

My truck did the same thing after it sat in the body shop for a few days when i painted the hood and bed lined the sides. Went to leave and it sputtered and smoked. Cleared up after about 20 minutes, but it was weird!
