Awesome build! Cant wait to see it finished!

How long had it been sitting when it was smoking like that? Probably just a lot of moisture in the exhaust.

Looks like a lot of good progress has been made since the last time I opened this thread.

! So I have a gallon of seafoam green and some green blue smething and some red so I'm gonna do some mixing and make a 1 off color for it. I build guitars for a living and mix my own paints so This isnt something I would recomend for 1st timers to mix paint and spray it on their trucks. I have enough pigments to hi-light that much paint but gonna have to rely on the left over paints for my main base color.

Looking forward to seeing what color you end up with. There was a RX7 in SCCA Pro-Rally about a decade ago that was famous as much for it's paint as it's performance. It was painted with a mix of "whatever was leftover" at the paint shop.

Well heres the result of 3-4hrs of mixing left over paints together to get enough to paint the truck. I had pigments to try ans tint or shade out but not enough to change a color. At the end of being mr mixology I had a grey color, purple like yogurt purple, a teal looking color and pink for base colors. I chose the pink and started to add pigment and came up with an orange/salmon type of color. It's a one off for sure. Once I add all the black it should tone it right out. I hope

Heres right after I finished painting the last coat. Paint was still wet. ok wont let me add pics right now. huh

here we go 3rd times the charm I guess

I love it!!! Different. You will never meet yourself on the road.....

Black bumpers, flairs, gas cap, door handles and black around the windows should mello it right out from being so loud. I dont have photoshop but got this program called the gimp to try and see what it looked like before I painted it but I'm the one who ended up being the gimp. I'm just not that smart with software, ooh well.

that's quite a change from wet to dry. I gotta say, I prefure the wet!

Orange is my favorite color and I always wondered what an 80 would look like in orange.....Interested to see how it is all finished off. But I'm with walking eagle....I think I liked the "wet" darker orange better. But we'll see. Great work so far though! Rust sucks.

That's easy - look at metal tech's 80 - bright orange.

That's the first flesh tone Cruiser I've seen... true Cruiser Porn!

:grinpimp:

There is going to be a nasty nickname for that truck with the flesh color isn't there?

Gonna try to lay down the black on the body today when my kids lay down for a nap. We have a really nice week ahead of us here in ohio and I have a feeling its the last warm up before the really cold stuff gets here. As long as everything goes like it should I'll have pics up later tonight of it. Gonna due away with the body color in the upper jams and same with the inside top of the doors. I'll stop it at the drip rail end on the front.

Nice work...and lots of it too!

What the hell is a megasquirt BTW?

Easy way to explain megasquirt is its a diy computer for your car. You can control timing, spark, map, etc. and replaces the oem computers. So you have full control of how your engine tune is applied. You can add the ford coils and loose the dist and other nice stuff like that. And all the software is free because its a group effort. I'll find a link and post it. I have it for my turbo 240z and it is quite awsome to say the least and I think it may be a real nice addition to the 1fz engine. Shoot you could put a small pc with a 7" monitor and have one sweet set up in the 80. hmmm making me think now :hhmm:

I cut all the black on the body tonight. When I was doing all the body work I got under it with my sand blaster and spent a few hrs cleaning the underside with some black beauty. I sprayed an industrial coating on the underside. They use it in oil refineries and such to prevent rust and its tough enough to hold up to the chemicals the put it through.. So to say the least my undrside is nice and sealed. To me that means the world living in ohio the land of the salt. Gonna shoot for the doors and fenders tomorrow. its gonna be almost 70 and sunny so I'll pull the body out and let it sit in the sun all day and get my first real look at it in the sun! and see all my runs. My wife got me a new hvlp gun for my birthday and this is the first thing I got to use it on so I was using the qtr panels to dial it in before I got into the jams and small areas.
