I'm anxious to see the final result... this has certainly got me thinking heavily about painting one of my rigs...

hit ginericlc up for the hatch - he'd have to ship it from Idaho - but it looks like yours is lost cause.

I went through the classifieds and sent a couple of pm's but didnt have any luck. Gonna cross my fingers and comb it again and look for that name. Thanks for the recommendation.

I can go to this scrap yard and check it out if you like. i live in downtown ann arbor; let me know!

Thanks Vasir. I'll let you know. At the moment I'm not sure where this yard is or the name. All I have is a phone number and I think its a yipsi number. They answer the phone hello. I got the info from another scrap yard saying there was one up in ann arbor that had one. I'm going to try calling again today. I found a few here in the classifieds but shipping is gonna kill me. I'll prob pay more to ship than it cost to buy and I have a feeling its gonna be more money than I can swing.

I saw that one. I figured it was gone because someone was asking about it in the first couple of posts so I backed out and moved on. I'm waiting to hear back from someone and if that too falls through I'll hit him up. Thanks for the look out. I know I can fix mine but have NO desire to do due so unless I absolutely have too.

As of end of october, he still had it listed as available, and I know he's been recovering so hasn't done much lately. Good luck.

try craiglook and search tempest for Craigslists finds...they are Craigslist aggregators...dial in how far in miles you want your search to go.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Its midnight and this guys wife has 5 days off so I'm going to live in my shop for those days and get some truck work done. So I've had alot of time to think about some stuff and decided I want to build a ladder up the rear passenger side instead of on the back over the hatch. Before I got this truck there was a rust free 60 2hrs south of me in Columbus that had me drooling and if I had got that truck, thats how I was going to do a rack/ ladder set-up on it. I haven't seen a set up on an 80 like this but I don't see why it wouldn't look just as good on my rig if not better cause we all know the 80 is the best cruiser built to date. I'll snap some pics later of what I'm thinking and post it for some feedback.

I can't for the life of me find it, but someone did a side mount ladder. I can't remember if it was always down or if it slid back up into the rack

It was on a camo 80

edit found the 80 its 1shot1kill 's but can't find the photo I'm thinking of.l

My shifter doesn't want to unlock to shift into drive or reverse. The batt is almost dead but that shouldn't have anything to do with it does it? Problems problems. Anyone else have this problem? I hope its just something caught or stuck and not the solenoid thing. Didnt have this problem until I pulled the carpet back and wedged the foot rest under the brake pedal to hold the carpet in place while I welded that strip in the floor. Is there an override for this?

yes, there is a little panel on the shifter you can pull. I had an issue with this and it turned out to be a short in the tail lights - the trailer plug had melted to muffler.

Yea, that is kind of a safety feature built into the 80's system; when the brake lights are not working you cannot shift out of park. This happened to me when i first purchased my rig and pulled a trailer that had a short in the wiring which blew my brake light fuse. Couldn't get it out of park. Pulled that little cover WE just pointed to and pressed the button with a screwdriver to get it into drive. Changed the fuse and all was good.

ok that makes sense. I broke an 1157 by accident. That must be why its doing that. It happened at the same time I pulled the carpet back. Thats crazy it does that. Man that takes a load off though. I thought I was going to have to replace a $50 sensor or something. Thanks guys.

Its also nice to know where the over ride is. I thought it was a cap for the over ride button that wasn't there. Yeah i'm an idiot.

That looks a lot closer to the wet photo than the dry one - more salmon than fleshy. I like it.

I must admit, it does look orange in daylight... did it go more orange after the paint completely cured?

Looks kind of Halloween-ish in orange and black, kind of like a jack-o-lantern. Call it Jack!

Here in ohio were getting down to 30 degree's when the sun goes down and I almost ran out of wood for heat but thank you craigslist I found some guys who sold me a cord of pine for $70 inc. delv. I wouldnt burn it in a house due to build up and fire hazards but in the garage it rocks. Burns hot and fast. Good for me. This should get me through most of the winter I hope.

Nothing's better than a toasty warm shop to work in. Just finished having a 75K BTU natural gas heater installed in my shop - it's a totally different work environment now that's for sure.

Its more orange because I have it wet sanded down right now. I wanted to get everything in color than re assemble it, wet sand it with 1000 grit and than lay a nice clean wet coat over everything so its uniform. Its been a week since I've touched the truck. I had to clean up my shop. Stuff wasn't getting put back after it was used and I found myself a huge mess thats taken me a few days to clean up. Not how I wanted to spend the free days I have but now I can work again without walking around in circles looking for stuff and stepping over things to do this or that. And yes Rusty, heat is amazing. It was low 20's last night and I was in my shop in jeans and a t-shirt sweating away. No more carharts with long johns and frozen hands for this boy. I don't have any good pics right now unless people want to see my clean shop. I'm gonna be heading out in about an hour to tackle the hatch. I'm going to patch the old one for now and get a new one this coming summer. Funds are getting pretty limited at the moment, unless theirs someone looking for a good set of used twins out there.

Heres some shots of where I have the hatch. Should be done with all the repair work tomorrow night sometime. For now I'm not worried about putting the wiper back in it. My whole assembly was in really bad shape and I had to cut it off. With the rear tire on the back I wont be able to see out it very well and the stereo I'm putting in it has a rear view camera I had planned on integrating into the bumper. Not to mention that will be nice when it comes to hooking up my trailer.
