Did you get that from a guy in Tulsa, OK??? I looked at one identical to yours about a year ago a guy had for sale. Just wondering...... Sweet truck BTW. Can't wait to see it finished.

I can identify man. Been waiting to do the exhaust and windshield on mine since mid summer but life has a way of messing up your schedule.

Ive been on vacation for over a week now and instead of putting time into the 80 Ive had to mess around with the gf's 200$ tercel lol. New brake lines all round, new exhaust, new brakes..... fing pos rusted to hell junker!

I did manage to get the exhaust done and made an appointment for a windshield but after seeing what you found under yours I am reconsidering lol. Im now worried theyre gonna pull the glass and half of the metal lip with it!

Oh well, good luck man.

I got this truck from a chick in Toledo Ohio. I have no clue of its past. All I knew when I got it was it had to be better than my Honda Passport that had a rusted through frame and electrical problems from a-z. I base lined it after i got it and it seems like someone loved this truck then someone didnt know how to take care of this truck. The rust has been the worst problem so far. No biggie for me. Thats why they made welders. I went through the front axle when I first got it. Still have a steering box thats kinda sorta leaking. It leaks but never gets low? you tell me. And I think I'm due for a hg. Started it up and boy o boy was she a smoking like I've never seen. Always a little but this time, wow. looks like a smoke machine at the tail pipe.

Been thinking of a 6.2 diesel swap. I like everything the 1fz engine offers but mpg. 12.5 is it. I know a little about megasquirt from my z car and that might be an option too. We'll see about that one though. I still have alot of diesel transplant research to do before I make my mind up. I dont want to go through the whole swap to get 15mpg when I'm done. 20 would be worth it but anything less I'll try the megasquirt first.

If you're looking for 20 mpg in a diesel Cruiser, then the way to go that's your best bet is a Toyota diesel. Maybe you can sneak one of those JDM diesel 80s from Canada across the border?;)

I would love to have a toyota diesel. Way out of my price range though. I can get a 6.2 or 6.5 for next to nothing in my area. So that would be a cheaper swap for me to do if I were to do one. And I figured if I did a megasquirt and didnt get much results all I would be out would be $300ish. By having a megasquirt i would then be able to dial in the engine maybe even add some ford coils and loose the dist. With out knowing the past of my rig I feel with 190k i'm on borrowed time before something lets go so im getting my plan together now. But I feel the 1fz engine offers alot to work with. As soon as this thing is painted and back together thats the next thing to do on my list is one of those two things.

looking good, makes me happy I bought a truck that was native to Oklahoma though.

Big feat tonight. I finished all the body work on the main body. I'm gonna pull it out and skuff pad it down, clean out the shop, hang some plastic and prime her up and get some color on that body! So, while I was sitting there looking at it ready for primer day dreaming, I think I want a white top. The color turned out real tan. So a pure white top might look super sweet on tan with black accents. So do I go gloss, semi-gloss or flat white? The paint is gloss single stage and the black for the arb flairs and etc. is semi gloss. Any thoughts? And how do I make it look right on the back hatch and not sticking out there like a sore thumb? I'll go down the piller top side of the drip rail and curve around I guess. Anyways that will hapining sat afternoon I hope!

No more rack. It was looking old and worn. Not to mention it was missing one of the cross bars. I like the way the it looks without the factory rack so much more.

Heres the new color of my rig. Thinking of it with the white top and black flairs/bumpers is gonna look sweeet!. At least to me it is! Now i'm gonna go try and find some white top 80's on here and see how they did theirs.

I was up til 6am looking at pictures of 80's and decided against the white top. I cant figure out one good way to tie it in and make it look like its meant to be white. I like the look of it just the roundness of the 80 makes it look like an added after thought if I were to paint it white.

I always felt the same way about abou the FJ-crusier actually. I like the overall look, just not the transition.

Ok here we go. it's 2:30 am and I'm getting ready to sand out a coat of primer and lay another coat down. Gonna pull an all nighter and go all the way through to spraying paint. First set of pics are getting ready etc.

I layed the first coat of primer down kinda thick. I used a duplicolor laq. primer. You can get it at autozone for $45 a gallon. Better price then my paint store could get it for. This isnt a show car so this primer is great for the app I'm using it for. Easy 50/50 mix ratio. Heavy up on the primer to make it thicker. It has a great build and sands down real nice. I then took a can of $1 rattle can and dusted it. I'm hopeing to hit it with some 220, once again on the primer lay it down heavy the maybe a 400 wet or even one of those between coats scuff ads and I shold be good for paint. Bad news the knobs down at my brother in laws paint shop mixed up my truck paint and paint I use for building guitars so I'm glad I saw that. I have some transparent tan paint! So I have a gallon of seafoam green and some green blue smething and some red so I'm gonna do some mixing and make a 1 off color for it. I build guitars for a living and mix my own paints so This isnt something I would recomend for 1st timers to mix paint and spray it on their trucks. I have enough pigments to hi-light that much paint but gonna have to rely on the left over paints for my main base color.
