So I searched, and yeah, this isn't news to all, but it sure caught me by suprise. Very cool road trip setup.

To quote the band Cake:

"Stick shifts and safety belts
Bucket seats have all got to go
When I'm driving in my car
It makes my baby seem so far

I need you here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat
I need you to be here with me
not way over in a bucket seat

But when we driving in my Malibu
It's easy to get right next to you
I say "Baby, scoot over please"
And then she's right there next to me

I need you here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat
I need you to be here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat

Well a lot of good cars are Japanese
But when we're driving far
I need my baby, I need my baby next to me

dude that is tight, is it possible to find the passenger side of those seats somewhere?

They exist-I have one in a left hand drive version. Except the 'rare-factor' it is really not all that practical. There is no room for a tuffy, and if you put 2 people on that seat they better be tiny.

cheers,
J

My 1988 FJ62 had front passenger side bench seat also. But I need center console that I removed it.
I'd get passenger seat and center console from USA FJ62 and installed them into my Non-USA FJ62.

Canadian BJ60's from '81 had that configuration as well. They are out there.

My cruiser looks almost identical to that, I love the front passenger bench.
It's not as impractical as it looks, I regularly have an adult and a teenager sharing that seat when i give some friends a lift home.
Only downside is that whenever we venture forth the mrs gets relegated to the back as the kids both claim the front seats, simply because they can.

1981 BJ60 had split front bench in Canada as well as vinyl foor coverings...

i owned one for a few months before stripping it out...kinda cool but i would have rather had a full bench so i could sleep across the front...

I've slept accross the front of mine. Handbrake down and in first.
That gap between the seat isn't as big as it looks.

Sweet !! did anyone find out about the bench seat for people in the US? Or maybe a website you could buy from?

My kids know that the kids place is the back seat!!
