Thread is helpful even for a 200 owner. Just dropping a quick thanks.

Hoping to see this exact type of write up for the LT version of 65/18 or 70/18 of this tire from someone.

I really want the tire, but I want it P rated and in 285/65/18 or 275/70/18. Obviously I'll need to compromise and may end up with OP's exact tires.
My thoughts exactly. Looking at what I’ll replace the OEM Dunlops with on my 2016 LC 200. Your uses are very similar to mine...I would like a taller tire than 275/65r18 but there is nothing except LT-E rated choices.

Only exception is the General Grabber APT in (P rated) 275/70r18...it’s an OEM tire on Nissan Titan pickups. The tread is similar to the TerrainContact (Continental owns General), but it’s not as attractive as the Continental. And I cannot find any real tests and the few opinions on the APT that I can find are all over the board.

I wish there were P or LT-C choices in 285/65r18. Since there aren’t, I’ll most likely be buying the TerrainContact’s in 275/65r18.
 
I'm going to do my 50k update on these tires soon – they're still holding up well though. I run mine at factory spec.

Tires look great. Is it fair to call them a happy medium between Michelin LTX and KO2?

I guess you could describe them that way —nice highway ride for sure. I’ve always wanted KO2s and might move that direction for the next set as these are a more mild AT tire.

Was going to say this. Leans slightly more towards LTX than KO2s. I've only had them a few k miles (on my 200), but I think they meet the needs of the vast majority of owner's needs. The rest would likely chuckle at them, and that's how it should be. Buy what you need and enjoy.
 
50k update:
I've been running these for about 2.5 years now, mostly highway, some gravel but no serious off road unfortunately. They are great in the rain, smooth on the highway with no noticeable noise. So far they've been a good all-around tire for my use. I'm considering going to a more aggressive AT tire for my next set, possibly KO2s as I've always liked them and that's nothing against the Terrain Contacts (will put these on my wife's 05 Sequoia when the time comes). One other thing I've really liked about these Continentals is that they haven't put a dent in my gas mileage – same as stock which is fine with me. Here are a few pics in their current state. As a side note, I've now had my land cruiser for almost 5 years and still can't believe how well this thing drives as well as the overall condition it's in for an almost 17 year old car ( 04 model with September 03 production date).

Well, I was planning on doing another update on the wear of these tires soon, but had a blowout on the interstate today. Rear passenger tire – had to drive for mile or so on the shoulder in order to get to a safe spot to change it. It's a little hard to tell what happened, but I do see two punctures on the sidewall. I'll inspect more thoroughly once the rain stops. Looks like it's time to do some tire research – thinking of going to the Firestone Destination X/T (285/65R18) anyone out there tried these?

They did well for years looks like. No exp with XTs. Had FD ATs on the 4Runner and wasn’t a big fan although no real issues other than an abnormal number of flats. Who knows why. Diff tire though. Good luck with your search and keep us posted.
 
I'd have a hard time not getting KO2s for similar money. I don't have them on the 100, but I do on my truck. They've been excellent.

I like the KO2s as well, and up until recently was planning to put them on the land cruiser. The new Firestone’s are a lighter LT tire, 6 lbs lighter per tire in the size I’m looking at (275 65 r18) compared to the KO2. My use is mainly on road, some dirt gravel, so was trying to keep weight down if possible. I’m still a bit undecided. The Continentals were great, but I like to change it up, and wanted something a little more aggressive.
 
My Daughter ran a set of those Firestones on her Truck (crewcab F150). Tread life was surprisingly good. She said they weren't too good on the snow and little bit of ice she encountered in Denver....but otherwise they were a decent tire for her needs (mostly highway and some off-road/camping)

If you’re on road, dirt & gravel, and not doing hard core off road or rock crawling, there’s no way I would install an LT rated tire. Braking, acceleration, mpg, and ride comfort will all be worse. In exchange for sidewall toughness that you probably don’t need.

There are lots of standard load choices in 275/65r18. I would advise against an LT rated tire for looks.

You’re right, and that’s exactly why I originally bought the Continentals I reviewed on this thread. But, I’d still like something a little more aggressive, and do plan to do some mild off-roading in the near future. Firestone has a 90 day try-out period so I may give them a spin.

Keep in mind pressures will need to be much higher with LT rated tires. On a 200 series LC, recommended pressure goes from 33 psi on P rated to 45 psi for LT rated in 275/65R18. I would expect a similar increase in recommended pressure for your 100. Your ride quality will suffer meaningfully from the pressures, in addition to the unsprung weight.

If you think you need LT tires for dealing with sharp rocks, go for it. But there are plenty of well reviewed, more aggressive tires in a P rating, like Toyo Open County III, Cooper Discoverer AT3, Nitto Ridge Grappler, etc. Personally I wouldn’t move to LT rated AT tires for occasional “mild off roading”.
