Had a flat last weekend after a road trip and had to pull the trigger on a new set of tires. I'd done a fair amount of research both on the web and here on mud over the last year -- decided an AT tire was a better fit for me. When I bought my LC in 2015, it had a fairly new set of Bridgestone HL Alenzas -- and, while not a bad tire at all, I wanted something a little more aggressive. In the end (today) I decided to go with these new Continentals. So far, they seem great, really quiet, and I like the look. I went up a size to 275/65/18. Had the torsion bars adjusted and then did an alignment as well. I'll report back once I've had them a while longer. 2004 LC, 131k.

I know I'm getting old and sometimes can't judge others age all that well, but you don't look old enough to drive in this pic. :)

Please do report back. I like to read about tires ,but many reviews are early in a tire's life and they do change characteristics over time.

Ha. I have blocks on the pedals. I'll report back after I've ridden on them a while.

I’m now about 5k miles in and still really liking the ride. Very smooth on the road (95% of my driving). I did have a chance last month to test them in the ice and snow - traction was really good, I was able to head up several hills that others were unable to (I know a lot of that was due to the LC itself). Braking is excellent, had to make a very sudden stop on the interstate and was very impressed with how well they grabbed. So far I only have good things to say. I’ll report back at 10k. I do like the look of these as well.

@Couvi: Have you hit 10k yet? How are they holding up? Are you still happy with them?

I'm no where near needing new tires, and stuck with Michelin all-season street tires. PO just put them on 1000 miles ago. They have 2000 miles on them, now.

The Continental TerrainContact A/Ts are considerably cheaper than the KO2s, and also have slightly higher ratings on Tirerack. Anyone want a set Michelins so I can buy the Continental TCs or BFG KO2s? :p

Good choice. I looked at that same tire (different size) recently when tire shopping. Continental has a good reputation for tires.

I ended up going with the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 (a very similar looking tire) only because I liked the tread pattern a little better.

But the Continental was definitely on my list.

I’m really liking these tires, they’re wearing well also — I’m at about 12k miles on them, with one rotation. I’ll post updated pics soon. I still like the look as well. @flintknapper did you go LT or P rated on the Geos? I was seriously looking at those last year, but noticed the LT and P had slightly different looks. I liked the LT better but didn’t want the extra weight. In the end, the Continentals won out and I believe they weigh the same as the stock set I had.

Last month, we were in Nashville for a rugby tournament for my son. Parking was in a low basin like area on some rough grassland. Well, it started raining like hell and continued to pour for an hour or so turning the lot into a mud pit. People were getting stuck everywhere. I ended up having to pull the rugby bus/van out and into clear spot - the cruiser (and these tires as well) never missed a beat. Not even one spinning tire. For what that’s worth.

I went with the LT tire and also went larger (LT 285/75/16 - 10 ply). So they are about 20 lbs. (each) heavier than the stock size Michelin that came off. So with 5 new tires (including spare) I am 100 lbs. heavier than before.

Here are a few recent pics, I’ll get some closeups of tread wear soon.

Here’s a better shot of tread pattern and wear at 12k miles.

Those look great to have that mileage....pretty much brand new.

Hotty Toddy
Thanks for keeping us updated on these tires. Cruiser looks good.

@Slashzero I didn’t get the spare, didn’t want to spend anymore (spent about 1k for all 4 with torsion bar adjustment and an alignment).

@flintknapper Yep, really pleased with the wear so far (especially considering the weight of the LC), and gas mileage didn’t really change (still going about 330+ miles between fill ups.)

@krice118 Woof woof. My pleasure.

Just wanted to post an update. I’m almost at the 20k mark (about a year) on these tires. Still riding smooth and quiet with fairly minimal wear. Mostly highway/pavement on this set. Great grip when breaking and they handle really well. I’ve done a few rotations and have them aired a bit more than factory spec. Gas mileage has been fairly consistent as well (13/16) - average about 15 or so — 330 miles/tank. All in all I’ve been really happy with them, still liking the look too.

Not much other than some mud and gravel, no serious trails. As I mentioned, most of my driving is on road. I got the passenger rated (P) version of the tires, they still seem pretty beefy to me and would have no concerns taking them to do some mild off-roading – I'm itching to do that just haven't really had the time yet. I have been really impressed with the wet traction as well as how well they grip when braking – they grab really well. I've done a few rotations and they really have not worn much.
